2009 Fall New York Fashion Week: Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs went back to the future for Fall.

Marc Jacobs went back to the future for Fall. His color shock collection can best be described as the future . . . in the '80s. You follow? Aside from the news items leading up to show — the downsizing in invites and just saying no to celebrities — the show went down as so . . .

Pepto pink ponchos, jagged edges, shiny jewel tone pencil skirts, comical brocades, cutesie florals, suede thigh high boots, and enough folds, pleats, and oversized shoulders to fill a hot air balloon. Oh, and each model had her own unique beauty look. They looked like characters from a comic book, at times over-the-top, every time entertaining. When you dissect, there are some wearable pieces, but together they're severe. Pants were tapered and pleated, tops were cut out and couture-like, and dresses were stand alone statements. Like me with the '80s, it's a love/hate relationship.

Fabworthy: Jackets, More Jackets, and Holographic Sequins at Vena Cava

I knew when I glanced at the run of show titled "Crystalarium" the Vena Cava show was going to sparkle.

I knew when I glanced at the run of show titled "Crystalarium" the Vena Cava show was going to sparkle. That it did, in the forms of holographic sequins and metallic fringe. But a few jackets also sparkled for me. As hinted, the Fall offerings were inspired by a trip to the American Museum of Natural History's Hall of Gems and Minerals.Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai conjured up a brilliant mix of a silver foil print rayon cardigan (pictured), motorcycle jackets (taupe leather pictured), and wool cropped jackets. The black asymmetrical wool blazer was unique amongst a sea of Fall blazers — P.S. they're not going anywhere — and atop a hypnotizing rainbow sequin skirt it was galactic chic. Worn over VC's girlie-but-not-too dresses and tame ruffles, these jackets beckoned me. This avid jacket collector will be waiting for these standouts come Fall.

FABTV: Halston Fall '09 Presentation

While most designers continue to use catwalk shows for their Fall collections, Halston is taking a road less traveled, literally.

While most designers continue to use catwalk shows for their Fall collections, Halston is taking a road less traveled, literally. It has transformed the streets of New York City into a runway in this three-minute Fall '09 video presentation. Model Dree Hemingway is seen running, slow motion, down a wet, rainy block, wearing a glamorous yellow chiffon Halston evening gown. Each block lends flavor; a newsstand, five-star hotel, a high-end boutique, and paparazzi cameras all capture the decadence of a transient era. Ironically, a few blocks into her run, Dree passes a runway show. Now, sit back and rejoice in having a front-row seat to Halston's Fall '09 show.

I Want This Wardrobe: Confessions of a Shopaholic, Rebecca Bloomwood

I wasn't messing around when I said Rebecca Bloomwood loves color.

I wasn't messing around when I said Rebecca Bloomwood loves color. But besides color, she also has a thing for layering. Just look — this outfit starts off with a black and white Vicki Tiel dress, followed by a black Givenchy eyelet jacket, cinched with a yellow belt. Yellow Christian Louboutin pumps, yellow leather gloves, red sunnies, and a kelly green metallic Nila Anthony bag make up her accessories. Let's not forget her Roberto Cavalli horn earrings and Versace gold medallion necklace. And finally, a vintage yellow coat pulls it all together. Phew! Can you tell Rebecca hearts yellow?!

I Love Your ShopStyle: Major Dedication

Erindream has dedicated her ShopStyle look to one of her friends and what a bangin' look it is.

Erindream has dedicated her ShopStyle look to one of her friends and what a bangin' look it is. I'm loving the icy colors in her ensemble. The print dress is the focus, but those slouchy ankle boots come real close to stealing the spotlight. The Mulberry purse pulls in some much-needed black, while the gold cutout earrings provide shine. Yeah — I'd wear this entire look if it was dedicated to me.

We're used to seeing Coco Rocha's lovely red locks swaying down the runway at New York Fashion Week, but this time around, don't be surprised to see the model conducting backstage interviews with designers, celebrities, and models.

We're used to seeing Coco Rocha's lovely red locks swaying down the runway at New York Fashion Week, but this time around, don't be surprised to see the model conducting backstage interviews with designers, celebrities, and models. Rocha has been enlisted by E! News to keep us entertained with behind-the-scenes goodies at Fashion Week. "Last night I was in the front row of Miss Sixty. We kept trying to make the girls laugh," said Rocha. "It worked really well." Don't fret Coco fans; the redhead will also be making an appearance on the catwalk.

Celebrity Style: Whitney Port

Fashion Week is the time to step up your fashion game and Whitney Port did just that.

Fashion Week is the time to step up your fashion game and Whitney Port did just that. The outfit she wore to Diane von Furstenberg's show is part whimsical, part serious, and all fabulous. The floral ruffle frock does its job of keeping Whitney feminine and flirty, while the Diane von Furstenberg striped blazer keeps it down to earth. Her choice of footwear — purple suede booties — couldn't be any more spot on. Great thinking! The art-deco earrings and gold rhinestone bangle bring the look full circle.
