Considering fishtail skirts are a big part of bridal fashion, it makes sense that they were also popular at the Oscars. What's the connection? Well, the Oscars is the biggest, fanciest award show of the season, hence, it calls for drama, drama, and more drama. Beyonce, Melissa George, Freida Pinto, Vanessa Hudgens, and Taraji Henson all wore dresses with fishtails tonight. Some were more voluminous than others, but they all brought elegance to the carpet. The most eye-catching fishtail? Melissa George's bright white Dolce & Gabbana.

The Oscars were a bit toned down this year, with fewer red carpet attendees and lots of neutral-hued gowns.

The Oscars were a bit toned down this year, with fewer red carpet attendees and lots of neutral-hued gowns. But that doesn't mean there was less gorgeousness than years past. Natalie Portman stands out in perfect pink Rodarte, but I have to admit these ivory, icy gray, cream, and champagne gowns are all winners.
