Paint It Black — Fab's 30-Day Fashion Challenge! Slash

Alas, after being caught between two slashed tanks, I went with my first love, the black.

Alas, after being caught between two slashed tanks, I went with my first love, the black. I'm so happy I did, because, it turns out it fit like a glove. Yay! Immediately after putting it on, I had a vision of the exact ensemble I wanted to wear it with, and here it is. My black miniskirt is actually a maternity belly band. It's cold out, so I threw on a black cardigan, sheer hose, and dressy socks for added flair.

We want to see you Paint It Black. Join our Paint It Black fashion group to post your looks, and maybe we'll feature you on Fab! Click over to see my PIB outfit details and start painting yourself black!

Trend Alert: Happy Swing Coats

It seems sunshine follows Cali girl Lauren Conrad wherever she goes.

It seems sunshine follows Cali girl Lauren Conrad wherever she goes. Case in point: in NYC, in her happy swing coat. Yellow, an unexpected yet friendly color, always brightens drab Winter days. I have a happy red Miu Miu coat I rarely wear, not because I don't love it, but simply because it rarely gets cold enough in San Francisco for it. Nonetheless, it makes a statement and is utterly ladylike. Just like LC. P.S. Nice stems.

Fab Ad: Gucci Timepieces, Spring '10

At first glance, I thought the youthful cutie in Gucci's Spring '10 watch campaign was Miranda Kerr.

At first glance, I thought the youthful cutie in Gucci's Spring '10 watch campaign was Miranda Kerr. Way wrong: the beauty pictured in the black and white backdrop is actually the lovely Veruschka. The photo, which dates back to the '60s, was taken from the Gucci archives and layered with an image of Gucci's new timepiece. Similar process to what Stella McCartney did for her Spring campaign, but with a Veruschka and the late actor Peter Sellers instead of the family dog. There's no better way to show off the meaning of timeless beauty than with Veruschka looking so elegant and chic in her floppy hat and Gucci logo-adorned bags. The watch is pretty awesome, too. Are you feeling Gucci's old-school ads?

Miranda Kerr looked as beautiful as ever en route to the hair salon in Sydney, Australia. Dressed for the Summer sun, she wore a printed maxi dress with flat slide sandals, covering up under a cropped Levi's denim jacket. For added style, she carried a cream quilted Chanel bag, which matched her round sunglasses to a T. Even if it's not warm where you live, shop these items for a similar look.
