The Met's Costume Institute Gala: Best Dressed
This year's Met Gala theme is the American Woman, so it's no surprise the best dressed of the night embraced glamour, ease, and red, white, and blue! From glittering gowns, to sculptural cuts, to party frocks, to screen siren salutes, it comes down to five beautiful babes. Some American designers made the final cut, but you and I couldn't refuse some European and Lebanese flavor. This one's a toughie — who ruled?

Costume Institute Gala Style: Nicole Richie
Nicole Richie sparkled in sequins at the 2010 Costume Institute Gala in NYC. Her floor-length silver Marc Jacobs gown was perfectly dressy for the affair but had that easy feel that we're used to from Richie. She tied a black velvet belt around her waist and accessorized with silver bangles and a black clutch for a completely cool result. Shop similar items now.
The Met's Costume Institute Gala: Elizabeth Banks
Elizabeth Banks showed off her wild side tonight in a black ensemble by Gucci. The feathered dress would have been enough on its own, but the actress decided to take it to the next level with lace tights. Racy black cutout booties and silver hoop earrings complete her look. Do you love it or hate it?
