For Fall 2011, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana took us back to the mid-'80s with their totally fun D&G collection. Models were turned out in dresses and separates with alphabet prints all festively accessorized with colorful charm necklaces and high-heel, Converse-like sneakers paired with thick scrunchy socks. And while the first part of the runway show offered outfits in strictly black and white, the latter part quickly advanced to a neon spectrum that included thrilling hot-colored blazers. It's been a week since NYFW kicked off a stylish season, and celebrity style shows no signs of slowing down. Whether gathering for more shows in London and Milan, kicking off a movie premiere, or prepping for Oscars, we caught some of our favorites making fashionable arrivals in everything from liquid leggings to shimmery cocktail attire. Highlights from Jennifer Aniston — and her newly cut locks — Alexa Chung taking in LFW in leather, and Elle Macpherson in a fierce, fringed LBD. Click through for all the standout looks I'm crushing on this week.
Cobie Smulders looked sailor-chic in a striped Ann Taylor top and white layered skirt at the premiere of Hall Pass. Her thick black belt, matching patent ASOS pumps, and smokey eye brought a little edge to the otherwise feminine ensemble. Get Cobie's fun and flirty red-carpet style now.
Sarah Hyland looked adorable in a leather Alice and Olivia dress at the premiere of Beastly. Her flowing frock was the center of attention, while her nude pumps and natural makeup were in sync with her monochromatic theme. We added a green cocktail ring and nude polish for an extra bit of glamour. Shop now to get Sarah's whimsical look.
Moschino is always celebrated for its cheeky chic fashions, and the Fall 2011 runway proved no exception to the rule. The show was a healthy mix of bold, menswear-inspired suits topped off with old-time conductor hats and ladylike ensembles accented with evening gloves or streams of pearls. Highlights included a gold lamé maxi skirt and navy sweater combo and a stunning fur-trimmed metallic evening coat. To see all the wonderfully festive looks, watch our runway coverage now!
Last season, Moschino gave us its irreverent take on the wild west; for Fall, it's all about the pomp and circumstance of military uniforms circa the Napoleonic era. Now mix that with tuxedo detailing, little black dresses, lamé, and pearls, and you have a typically cheeky Moschino show. Double-breasted jackets were threaded through with gold, which to modern eyes could pass for an old military reference or the costumes at band camp. More wearable were the tuxedos, with cropped pant silhouettes and sharply tailored jackets. Downright covetable were the little black dresses, one with ruffle detail. The most amusing part of the show? Coco Rocha strutting down the catwalk wearing a chicken hat.

First, there was Hailee Steinfeld looking fresh and crisp in a Tommy Hilfiger short-sleeve silk crepe pleated dress; then Natalie Portman showed up to a Vanity Fair party in a babydoll dress from H&M's new Conscious Collection with gorgeous floral lace applique. With Spring shopping season about to commence, we're looking for a perfect hybrid of the two: white, a little bit fitted but still a little flowy, crisp, but with feminine details. After combing the market, we came up with not one but 12 perfect dresses. Our favorite is the Temperley dress with ornate lace. Happy shopping!
For Fall 2011, Miuccia Prada drew inspiration from the '20s and the '60s, offering dropped-waist dresses, wide-belted big-button coats, sheer shifts, and Mondrian-esque block prints all topped off with colorful python-print, knee-high boots. And despite the unfussy nature of the silhouettes, glamorous touches via vibrant fur, the aforementioned python, and colorful paillettes made the ensembles truly unique.
