Give your skinny jeans a break, Spring 2011 is all about slouchy trousers! This loose pant silhouette was seen on a few of our favorite runways, like Celine, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Yves Saint Laurent. Today we've styled a denim wide-leg pant, a maxi trouser, and a loose, cropped version, so there is something for everyone! Whether you want a '70s boho vibe or a laid-back look, the great thing about these trousers is that you can wear them so many different ways. Watch to see how we styled the new relaxed pant! On Allison: Theory top from Nordstrom.com, Tibi trousers.

Fall 2011 Paris Fashion Week: Valentino 2011-03-08 14:50:46

For Fall 2011, designing duo Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccoli conjured up a romantic collection overflowing with soft and feminine looks. The two remixed iconic lace dresses and made them sheer, some designed with perfect knife-pleats, while other gowns integrated lace with a chevron detailing. For daywear, '70s-inspired trousers were paired with sheer tops and decadent coats, and chic knit tops were paired with melton wool skirts evoking a classic ladylike appeal. Meanwhile, standout leather coats, dipped in dark teal and chocolate brown, added just the right amount of contrast to the soft and pretty collection.

  • Trends: Femininity, romantic dresses, sheer lace dresses.
  • Colors: Mauve, black, dust pink, beige, chocolate brown.
  • Key Looks: Lace and knife-pleated dresses.
  • Accessories: Python-print Mary-Janes, lace and suede boots.
  • Who Would Wear It: Classic romantic types.

    Feeling Inspired by Prada's Spring '11 Stripes . . .

The weather in NYC yesterday was unseasonably warm and quite sunny.

The weather in NYC yesterday was unseasonably warm and quite sunny. Walking down West 19th street in the afternoon wind, I had a sudden and violent urge to don bright colors and a bold pattern or two — at the same time. As the dirty snow piles get smaller and smaller, my visions of cherry blossoms and green leaves become more and more vivid. The punchy stripes at Prada's Spring/Summer 2011 show really revved my sartorial engines, and finding some choice horizontal lines in shades of fuchsia and jade is high on my Spring must list.
