Jason Wu Goes Plastic With Melissa Shoes

Jason Wu is making his mark as the first American to collaborate with Melissa, the famous plastic footwear brand based in Brazil. “It was really interesting for me to explore design possibilities with plastic,” said Wu. “I wanted to take advantage of the materials I was given, make it all completely functional and waterproof and yet still remain extremely sophisticated.” Melissa, who touts past collabs with Gareth Pugh, Vivienne Westwood, and Jean Paul Gaultier, teamed up with Wu to create two styles, seen above, using its signature silhouettes: the Ultragirl ballet flat highlighting the Miss Wu owl, and the Lady Dragon pump, featuring a gold sunburst accent culled from his Fall collection. The collection launches in Spring and will be available in three colorways, black, burgundy, nude, and transparent gray.

Look of the Day: Light Layers

It's hard to pull off loose layers, but Fab reader Megan Zietz shows that it can be pretty and flattering.

It's hard to pull off loose layers, but Fab reader Megan Zietz shows that it can be pretty and flattering. The key? One very strategic belt creates shape and a more structured silhouette. We like the pretty floral print over the lilac-hued soft skirt, and before the sweetness kills it, she toughens up the outfit with an army jacket. The result is a look of light Summer layers that is super cute.

Congrats to Megan Zietz!
