Olivia Palermo Talks Fashion Week Must Haves and More at NYFW!

Just when we thought Olivia was nowhere to be sighted at New York Fashion Week, we spotted our girl crush at Rachel Roy's Spring presentation.

Just when we thought Olivia was nowhere to be sighted at New York Fashion Week, we spotted our girl crush at Rachel Roy's Spring presentation. As expected, Palermo culled together a fantastic ensemble wearing a sheer leopard print top and clutch by Reiss, Mulberry pocket skirt, and although you can't see it, a hot pair of purple platform sandals by Charlotte Olympia. After creating a photographers frenzy with her arrival, Palermo took time out to chat with us. Fun fact: her favorite Karaoke songs are from Stevie Wonder and Frank Sinatra. Listen up for more Olivia tidbits:

On Spring '12 collections: I'm looking forward to seeing some really nice evening gowns. I really need to focus on building my evening wear collection.

On Rachel Roy: I love everything Rachel does. I haven't seen the full collection yet, but there was one black look with an amazing print on it. I love it.

On other shows she plans on attending at NYFW: I'll be at Tibi, Marchesa, and I think that's it!

On what she can't live without during Fashion Week: My Blackberry and iPad charger because it always seems like I'm on empty battery.

Rachel Roy Spring 2012

Rachel Roy couldn't have picked a more beautiful day to present her Spring '12 collection — attended by celebs like Olivia Palermo and Kim Kardashian — outdoors at the Lincoln Center.
Rachel Roy: Spring 2012

Rachel Roy couldn't have picked a more beautiful day to present her Spring '12 collection — attended by celebs like Olivia Palermo and Kim Kardashian — outdoors at the Lincoln Center. It was the classic '30s flick The Lover, which took place in colonial Vietnam, that inspired Roy to meld the masculine with feminine via mint green draped suit jackets, tailored trousers, pajama separates, and asymmetric wrap dresses. Graphic floral prints gave an edge to washed silk maxi dresses and gowns, while tape-yarn and linen dresses added a textural touch to the collection. We especially loved the black and white silk jacquard pieces cut into louche trousers and shorts. More highlights from the collection below.

  • Trends: Asymmetric wrap dresses, pajama pants and tops, graphic floral prints.
  • Colors: Mint green, taupe, yellow, black, white, iced peach, orange.
  • Key Look: The asymmetric wrap dress and taupe knit dress.
  • Accessories: Chic nude ankle wrap platform sandals, nude and black vachetta belts.
  • Who Would Wear It: Girls who crave chic pieces with a masculine edge like Gwyneth Paltrow, Halle Berry, and Olivia Palermo.

    Carolina Herrera: Spring 2012

Carolina Herrera provided springtime ease for the ladylike set with her Spring 2012 runway show. While her daytime separates were perfectly lovely, our eyes were focused on her evening wear. There was a deco motif to her gowns via geometric prints and beading, and a lovely emerald hue that we expect to see on the red carpet soon enough. Our full review to come soon, but in the meantime, check out the Spring collection, and for an extra dose of fun, see all the dresses in their flowy glory in our Carolina Herrera runway video.
