10 Pieces to Achieve Ladylike Polish at the Office

Mastering the perfect office chic ensemble can be tricky, but thanks to Fall's ladylike trend, we have a bevy of stylish options to choose from this season.
How to Dress at the Office

Mastering the perfect office chic ensemble can be tricky, but thanks to Fall's ladylike trend, we have a bevy of stylish options to choose from this season. Instead of a regular black pencil skirt, we suggest you experiment with a textural tweed option. Louche, bow-embellished blouses can also add a feminine, yet appropriate, touch to your look. You too can look like the beautiful Lauren Santo Domingo. Listen up to our three smart styling tips below, then shop our top 10 office chic game-changers in the slideshow.

  • A pencil skirt adds instant polish to any office look. Don't forget to finish off the look with ankle-wrap pumps for the perfect office-appropriate ensemble.
  • Don't be afraid to wear leather to the office; just make sure to incorporate the trend in small doses. We love the idea of wearing a leather-inset sheath dress.
  • Invest in a snazzy satchel bag. This bigger silhouette will simultaneously hold all of your daily essentials and add a refined touch to your look.

D&G Spring 2012

Opulent, silky prints ruled D&G's final runway show — and if you've ever wondered how to wear a scarf more than 10 different ways, this is it.
D&G: Spring 2012

Opulent, silky prints ruled D&G's final runway show — and if you've ever wondered how to wear a scarf more than 10 different ways, this is it. For Spring 2012, Dolce & Gabbana's younger line showed us endless ways to adorn ourselves in silky, luxe prints — halter-tied flowing dresses, mini shorts, tunics, button-downs, wrap skirts, and even silk scarf-wrapped platforms and bags. Hardly any solids appeared at all — save for a denim-on-denim suit and a white button-down adding stark contrast to a pair of tailored silky, turquoise trousers and printed miniskirt. Whimsical and luxurious, we probably wouldn't feel right if we weren't wearing these pieces on a yacht somewhere off the Amalfi Coast.

  • Trends: Prints, denim, scarves.
  • Colors: Pink, green, blue, orange, multihued prints, polka dots.
  • Key Look: The silky, mixed prints looked amazing, but we're particularly obsessed with the silky print tunic over the floral print silk shorts.
  • Accessories: Scarf-wrapped platforms, major gold coin drop earrings and necklaces, small printed box clutches, larger, fringe-adorned printed clutches, and straw-trimmed floppy hats.
  • Who Would Wear It: Glamorous vacationers and die-hard D&G fans.

Trend Report: Go Tribal

One of our favorite Fall trends is carrying over to Spring — tribal looks.

One of our favorite Fall trends is carrying over to Spring — tribal looks. Safari-inspired pieces graced the runways at Michael Kors, Donna Karan, and Diane von Furstenberg, as designers played with mixed prints, raw textures, and vibrant hues. From head-to-toe animal prints at Michael Kors to warrior-like tribal dresses at Herve Leger, we can’t wait to get our safari on for Spring.

A statement necklace can seriously amp up an outfit, as these stylish celebs prove.

A statement necklace can seriously amp up an outfit, as these stylish celebs prove. We love the ability to transform an outfit just by adding a great bib necklace, or a sparkling pendant necklace. Especially as Fall and Winter weather has us adding layers, jewels are the easiest way to add a pop of excitement, sophistication, or something on trend to add a little fashion to a cozy functional look. Check out our celeb accessory report, where necklaces, from Mandy Moore's playful Lela Rose piece to Monica Bellucci's decadent Cartier jewels, are the real star.
