Countdown to NYE: Olivia Palermo's Borrowed-From-the-Boys Tux

You don't have to pull out the party dress to get festive for NYE. Drawing a little inspiration from the men's department, Olivia Palermo proved that the tux is a chic (and pretty sexy) alternative to the usual holiday fare. So whether you're a no-frills kind of girl or you're looking to mix up your regular dressing routine, we present to you this all-occasion-appropriate alternative that's also not hard to re-create. Look for a tuxedo-style blazer and slim trousers (note: it doesn't have to be a matching suit). Then, add a white button-down — something silky will look especially elegant. As for the finishing touches, this is where you can glam it up with some feminine flair. Add interest with unique finds, like Olivia's plexiglass clutch, and a pair of statement heels, like a leopard-print pump à la Palermo or a heel in a brilliant color. Because the suiting is pretty understated, it leaves ample room to play with accessories, so even subtle additions, like Olivia's red nails (or a red lip) will have a major, NYE-worthy impact. There were many noteworthy online retailers that opened up for virtual business this year — check out the list here — but you know how it goes, there can only be one winner. And this year we're happy to announce that it's Club Monaco! The brand opened its proverbial ecommerce doors at the end of March and has been serving up understated style to both men and women ever since. Amid all this, Club Monaco also produced many inspirational lookbooks: Fall 2012 referenced Scottish luxury, William Morris prints, and art nouveau, and Spring 2013 offered up cool-girl wares inspired by a New York state of mind. What's more, the retailer collaborated with Mayle on a collection of awesome bags, too. Given all that, we think this win is very well-deserved. Congrats to our friends over at Club Monaco!
