Jessica Alba has been sporting a number of layered looks lately, but we particularly love the cool-weather add-ons of her latest London outfit. The actress topped her navy-and-black combo — navy moto jacket, black trousers, and black Rupert Sanderson ankle boots ($721, originally $961) — with a gray fur trapper, marbled fingerless gloves, and a thick black scarf. Jessica completed her bundled look with a suede bag, black nail polish, and a bright red lip. Mimic Jess's street style with her exact ankle boots, a navy jacket and black trousers, then top it off with a fur trapper hat and fingerless gloves.

When it comes to hues, red is par for the holiday-dressing course: red bows, dresses, sweaters — often (and sometimes unfortunately) paired with green. We love the festive feel, but we do firmly believe that there's a chicer way to do it. The proof is all right here — a pack of celebrities and street-style standouts (more on that below!) who've made the case for just a pop of the statement color. It's the real-life evidence of that a-little-goes-a-long-way adage, not to mention a seasonal, but less literal interpretation of the holiday dress code that you can apply to your everyday (not just your party) ensembles. Take a page form Diane Kruger's styling manual and perk up an easy white and black palette with a pop of red on your sunglasses, or take the high-wattage hue to a pair of statement heels. And, if you're looking to really get in the spirit of things, you don't have to commit to a red dress for your Chrismukkah festivities — just add a touch of holiday cheer with a ladylike clutch and coordinating pumps.

Emma Stone certainly knows how to turn up the heat on her red-carpet appeal, but what she does best — her now-recognizable way of making even the simplest of pieces look utterly chic — comes, well, naturally. And at yesterday's Revlon Nearly Naked makeup launch appearance, she applied this au naturel styling stance to a polished nude-and-gray Daniel Vosovic raglan-sleeved dress and peachy Rupert Sanderson pointy-toe pumps. While most of us are pulling out our turtleneck LBDs, cable-knit sweater dresses, and charcoal gray layers, the Gangster Squad starlet is pulling a Spring-hued fast one on us. It's a refreshing (not tacky) look that already has us reconsidering our natural inclination to put away those lighter-colored staples as soon as the weather cools down. The only catch? We're pretty sure that it's not actually feasible to go bare-legged in subzero temps, so we're adding our own necessary wintry twist to her inspired look. • We love the idea of juxtaposing luxurious texture with a more masculine boot. Thus, our first styling adventure has everything to do with wearing a longer faux fur gilet (in a darker hue, preferably) with opaque wool tights and a lace-up wedge boot. It has the perfect balance of femininity and glamour, all while being a little bit rough around the edges, thanks to a more structural shoe choice.
• Go the tough route with a slicker combination of accents. Pair a leather moto jacket with flat patent leather oxfords. Then, if you're feeling extra sassy, try on a plum-hued lip color, too. It definitely plays to that borrowed-from-the-boys vibe, but with an altogether light and airy dress slant.
• For the classic style setter, this one's for you. Since the dress is not the most traditional of Winter colors, we think it's more than OK to stick to a darker palette — clean lines included — elsewhere for the finished look. A gray tweed car coat (or a no-fail peacoat silhouette), black suede pumps, and tights are the perfect ladylike offset.
