London Fashion Week has come to a close, and the bevy of printed, iridescent pieces on the runways definitely caught our eye. Burberry Prorsum, Jonathan Saunders, and Mulberry all proved that high-shine separates will be a must have for the Spring '13 season, and even more British designers delivered a slew of wild prints — covering everything from jackets to coats to handbags. Tune in to our trend report to hear more about the trends from across the pond. On Allison McNamara: Rebecca Taylor dress.
She shone on the 2012 Oscars red carpet in a white Tom Ford gown, and now Gwyneth Paltrow is making yet another strong case for minimalistic white dresses. At an Obama fundraiser in London, the actress donned a Tom Ford white square-neck, long-sleeved, knee-length fitted dress with black pumps and a box clutch. Not that you need another example of how killer white can be, but let Gwyneth's latest choice inspire you to add an equally gorgeous white minimalistic dress to your mix. We recommend you choose one that's professional enough to wear with a blazer and pumps at work and sassy enough to sport with sexy sandals and baubles at night. Elizabeth Olsen stopped by the Live! With Kelly and Michael show in NYC working a below-the-knee navy-and-white striped skirt with a black sweater and tan ostrich oxfords. It's a simple look and one that can be easily re-created with pieces you probably already own. Just pair any striped skirt — it need not be the same colors or silhouette — with a solid sweater, then finish off with boyish oxfords like the ones we chose below or these Maison Martin Margiela gray ostrich oxfords ($360). For a nighttime version, swap the flat oxfords for a pair of high-heeled oxfords, like these Hinge cognac lace-up peep-toe pumps ($60, originally $120).
Sarah Jessica Parker is known for evening ensembles Carrie Bradshaw would be proud of, but her recent daytime looks have proved she has major street style, too. Earlier this week she was spotted working a fabulous tweed and faux leather shift Kirna Zabete for Target dress and chunky teal cardigan. For her latest NYC outfit, SJP layered a blue crochet sweater over a gray-and-white striped tank and cuffed white skinny jeans. She accessorized with black wrap sunglasses, low-key creme Converse ($45), and her signature tousled locks. Re-create the actress's latest look by shopping similar pieces below or working with items you already have in your closet: a knit sweater, white jeans, and Converse sneakers.
We're excited to bring you the best fashion finds, shopping stories, and style news from one of our favorite sites, Fashionista. Today, they're giving us a little behind-the-scenes tale of Diane Kruger and her Dior Couture.
For Diane Kruger, the drama at May’s Cannes Film Festival didn’t stop when the movies ended. The actress told People that she was faced with a rather unfortunate predicament when it came her voluminous vintage Dior Couture gown and, well, relieving herself:
“[The gown] had a huge bodice. It was so big that it took me an hour to get into it and the only way for me to go to the bathroom was to take off the bodice. Once I finished dinner, I had to go to the bathroom and it became so tight that I couldn’t breathe anymore.”
But fret not–despite the dire circumstances, it wasn’t Kruger’s time to go (though in other respects, it was!) Thankfully, her ridiculously good-looking, sharp-dressing, beloved by Karl Lagerfeld boyfriend Joshua Jackson also happens to be a wizard with the scissors.
