The VMAs are famous for their shocking red-carpet looks, but this year was far more notable for achieving quite the opposite effect. To start, Rihanna hit all the right notes in a curve-hugging white gown, Miley Cyrus turned it out in a darker sheer-paneled Emilio Pucci number, and Katy Perry appealed to her softer side in an embellished Elie Saab dress. What's the common dressing denominator here? These stylishly daring starlets opted for more sophisticated gowns this time around. That's right: no provocative cutouts, prints, or slits to be found — at least, not provocative by rockstar standards. However, a seriously eye-catching jumpsuit has been spotted. Kristen Stewart set the bar high with her Snow White and the Huntsman promo tour in May — a veritable tour de force in red-carpet dressing that included everything from a dramatically sheer and lace Marchesa confection to an ornate two-piece Balmain number. So, it was only a matter of time until she would nail that premiere styling once again. Tonight, she stepped out in a fitted floral-embroidered Zuhair Murad Couture sheath and slick black Jimmy Choo pumps for the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of her film On the Road. This sleek dress — distinguishable by its beautifully sequined floral appliqué embroidery, sheer lace overlay, and sexy pencil-skirt silhouette — proved extra memorable, as it was also Kristen's first public appearance since news of her cheating scandal with director Rupert Sanders broke. Apart from the anticipation of merely spotting the brunette starlet this evening, we're totally taken with the ultrapretty details and her simple approach to accessorizing. An ethereal girliness prevailed for Honor Spring 2013, with a collection full of organza and soft botanical prints, and plenty of ruffles that felt a bit more cool than frilly. Neon green and pink were the color choices for pigment-print (it looked like a trippy floral) jackets and dresses. They were ladylike silhouettes, but featured cocoon sleeves, and many of the dresses had cutout backs and "microsparkle" trim that looked a little futuristic. Blouses featured Edwardian ruffles, which would have felt a bit costumey if not for the models sporting cool sunglasses and little crystals in their hair — it was like the cool girl meshed into a dreamy princess. If there's one must have from the very pretty collection, it's anything organza. The floaty, delicate fabric looked so fresh and wearable when made into a pair of high-waisted shorts.
