fashion is the new brie

>>  You may have been wondering where all my New York Fashion Week coverage is.  It's just that I keep looking at collections and feeling uninspired.  I was hoping that maybe fashion was like cheese -- it would get better with time.  As far as I can tell, that theory has miserably failed.  So I think I'm going to have to be proactive, I'm going to have to push myself to find things I like in collections I don't like overall.  So here goes nothing...

Kl_boots At Karl Lagerfeld, I really liked the slouchy boots -- I don't think I'll ever get over my obsession with slouchy pirate boots.  It's funny how its the shoes that have caught my attention on the runways thus far this season -- I'm not sure that's a compliment to the designers, however.

Annie_kl There's a couple of outfits at Karl Lagerfeld that I liked -- this one on the right seemed very 70's, very Annie Hall to me.  The combination of the tweediness of the vest and the turtleneck are perfect, pair with slouchy pants (Take note: slouchy pants are all over this season.  I've had some for a couple of years now, straight from the men's section, and they are incredibly comfortable.  A different silhouette than the fitted one that most women's pants create.)

Lily_klIn the midst of all the black, this outfit on the left was my other favorite. I really like the muted golden color, and it surprises me that it looks so good on Lily Donaldson -- yellows don't typically look good on pale-skinned blondes.  I like how it combines draping in the sleeves and is fitted on the body.  And weird as it may seem, I really like the flap of material at the empire waist -- how it flows with the body as it walks.

There, that wasn't so bad, was it.  I found stuff I liked in a collection I hated at first.  The rest of the Karl Lagerfeld collection is here
