Her friends had a small get-together over the weekend, and CinnamonPixie was in serious party girl mode. Her booties and dress definitely helped her rise to the occasion.
One glimpse at Emma Fletcher's designs for Lyell and you get the sense that she takes her job very seriously. Her Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation win proves that she does outstanding work. The Australia native also owns a small boutique in NYC's Nolita neighborhood called Lyell, which stocks rare vintage finds from European designers, as well as her own vintage-inspired merchandise. We recently caught up with Emma to pick her brain. A few Fab words, if you will . . .
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned in the last year?
Up until recently, which I don't know if it's out of fear or a innate wanting to be out on my own, I always aimed at only wanting to make clothes for myself and for the store. Keeping everything nice and simple. But as more interest and demand is coming my way, I understand the value of having a show, and expanding Lyell's reach. The award has really forced me into a whole new realm of exposure that is as equally scary as it is exciting. The big lesson is it pays to be involved and talk to people and get help.

Heidi Klum’s Mary-Kate and Ashley Connection Supermodel Heidi Klum has worn every designer label imaginable on and off the runway, but the Project Runway host understandably takes interest in up-and-coming designers — and the Olsens are no exception. While attending designer friend Philipp Plein’s “Metal Rock Couture” fashion show in Spain, Heidi opted to wear a sequin dress and long black blazer from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s contemporary line Elizabeth and James. 0 Comments
The Pre-Fall collections have been quietly underway, but are definitely worth mentioning. They have been gaining more popularity as a preview of what's to come for Fall. Since Fall '08 is right around the bend, here are some observations . . .
Fashion continues to be all about the lady, and no tramp. Grey seems to be the new favorite canvas color, as well as matte black; prints are mixed, poppy, artsy and colorful. Neutrals are gorgeous too. Sleeves are cropped and experimentation with volume brings it to an even more wearable place. Coats, fur, belts and skirt suits are a plenty. Fab favorites: Michael Kors and his Hitchcock babes, Missoni, Louis Vuitton's mismatching, Proenza's body conscious creations and Versace's sharp lines.
How can we forget when Rihanna overpowered the red carpet in her emerald green satin Dolce & Gabbana gown? It looks like Billy Joel's wife, Katie Lee Joel, was green with envy because she selected the same mesmerizing dress for a recent event. Both ladies look stunning, but I don't understand why Katie blocked her dress with her hair. Rihanna is more polished while Katie's more at ease. Which gal wins you over?
All of the items come directly from her closet, and include everything from True Religion jeans to an Ingwa Melero dress. Some of them she has even worn to an awards ceremony or to a photo shoot! Cute and compassionate, we heart Hayden.
In this week's Gossip Girl, Blair Waldorf demonstrates that there's nothing like a red sparkly dress to make you stand out at a party. Although her exact Marchesa dress isn't available online, this one is quite similar.
