The flapper-style dress The Hills Whitney Port wore while frolicking the streets of Hollywood with her girlfriends looked very familiar when I first saw it. No wonder; it's Topshop's Heavy Beaded Dress ($79, originally $257). This is not just any old dress though. It's a knock-off of a Swarovski dress that sold for $10,000 for The Prince's Trust. If you're in the mood for the roaring '20s, this is the best and most affordable dress for you.
Last night's Project Runway brought the much-dreaded unusual-material challenge. The designers found themselves at the Hershey's store in Times Square scooping up Reese's candies, Hershey Kiss pillows, and whatever else they could get their hands on in the five-minute grab session. All of the designers, save one, ended up using candy wrappers, paper, or pillow fabric to fashion their garments: Chris warned about the dangers of working with food. Jillian was the lone ranger, daring to use Twizzler's to embellish her design and catch guest judge Zac Posen's eye. Her decision gave her a lot of trouble, but worked out in the end — would you have risked it like she did, for extra brownie points?
And, while we're on the subject, could you have really seen Chris's outfit "shot for the pages of Elle," as Nina said? For a full run down of the "Eye Candy" episode, be sure to check out what Buzz has to say.
It's only the first month of the new year but that doesn't mean we can't think ahead to Spring. This Max Studio Silk Voile Skirt ($44, originally $128) is a pretty place to start. It's flouncy, flirty, and a bit global chic. In the meantime, wear it with tights, come Spring, wear it with a tan.
Newlywed Katherine Heigl went furniture shopping in LA yesterday looking casual yet stylish. I admire that instead of throwing on sweats like so many stars, she chose a teal Marc by Marc Jacobs ruffle blouse, a Jimmy Choo bag, and Tory Burch leopard flats. Her sunnies are a little ill fitting, but I'll get over it because I'm digging the jewel tones in her outfit.
The Look: Purple Satin Talk about Hollywood royalty! Regal purple satin is the latest fabric to adorn red-carpet princesses. "I love feeling womanly," Anne Hathaway told In Style. In her formfitting Dolce & Gabbana bustier dress (also donned by Fergie), Hathaway lived up to her promise. 1 Comment
Harvey Weinstein, whose Weinstein Co. bought the Halston brand last March with plans to revive it, has more than just Halston clothes on his mind. Rumors were running rampant yesterday that Jude Law had been cast to play Halston in a Weinstein-produced movie, but according to industry sources, while a biopic is in the works, it has yet to be cast.
Singer and actress Selena Gomez posed for pictures at the 2009 American Music Awards with a pretty pink smile on her face. She took advantage of the occasion and went glam; wearing a Talbot Runhof sequin dress with black strappy heels.
