I don't plan on
tying the knot anytime soon, but it's always fun to look. Bridal Fashion Week is underway and it's looking to be a very beautiful Fall. So far, I've seen an amazing array of gowns ranging from Reem Acra's Grecian-inspired gowns to Monique Lhuillier's glamorous frocks. One thing is for sure: there's a dress out there for every future blushing bride. Check out my slides to see more amazing bridal confections.

If you didn't get a chance to play dress-up the first time around, here's another opportunity. Shopstyle and Shopbop have joined forces to bring you a six-week-long contest that can potentially gift you a $500 and/or $1,000 gift certificate to Shopbop. How kind of them.
All you have to do is log onto ShopStyle and create a Fall look that corresponds with the week's theme. This week is Grunge and Leather. Rock on. Don't forget to add the look to the Shopbop Fall 2008 group. In order to be eligible to win, you must title your look, describe it, and have a minimum of three items. Read detailed rules and regulations, then start playing dress-up!
Last night while the ladies were battling it out in Chanel at the opening of Chanel's mobile art pavilion in New York's Central Park, it was all about Karl Lagerfeld, Sarah Jessica Parker, and art! Quite the dynamic trio. While Sarah confessed to loving Chanel bags, Karl delivered some fun nuggets. Amidst falling branches, wind blasts, and frozen toes, here's what Karl had to say . . .
What do you think is a great piece for women to embrace in their wardrobes for the Winter?
"This is a piece of beautiful architecture — for clothes — I don't know how the Winter will be and how the economy will be and what they can afford, you know?"
How about something from your collections?
"I do several collections – I don't remember the collections!"
Tell me how this structure makes art and architecture accessible.
"What is art? What is architecture? What is fashion? All those things. Zaha Hadid (the architect) puts it in the same melting point. Fashion is fashion and art is art. We don’t need art but we cannot live without it. Fashion you need because if not you are freezing in clothes you need because we cannot run around naked."

Despite retailers desperate attempts at special promotions and sales, consumers are still gripping their purse strings, tightly. "Specialty retailers have been pulling out their entire bag of tricks in the desperate hope of convincing the reticent shopper to spend,” said Catherine Sadler, president of marketing firm Catherine Sadler Group. “But, as we all know by now, it hasn’t worked." With their failed attempts, retailers are now trying out a different strategy by looking for what customers want in this tough economy.

Sadler notes that new items with standout qualities such as J. Crew's high-end line at affordable prices and Anne Taylor's smart move in creating washable clothes will be retailers only hope. According to retail reports, customers want classic items with a twist such as Banana Republic's Tie-Neck Black Dress ($175), Lacoste’s Long Sleeve V-neck Sweater Dress ($165), and Tory Burch's Purple Crinkle Chiffon Blouse ($295) seen above — all of which were reported as current best-sellers.

During a night out in LA, Lauren Conrad chose a versatile Elizabeth and James dress that can be worn at least three different ways. The girl sure loves the Olsens' contemporary clothing line. She cinched hers in with a black belt to make it shorter and sexier. Though LC left behind her signature Chanel 2.55 quilted bag, she busted out a petite version. The reality star also loves her Louboutins as she finished the look off with round-toe suede pumps.
