Not many celebrities busted out non floor-grazing frocks this year at the Emmys but the ones who did worked it well. This time, shorter hemlines ranged from sassy knee length to retro ankle skimming heights. All of these ladies look distinctive, but which look was your favorite?
Lavishly beaded dresses are no strangers to the red carpet. Nevertheless, their gorgeousness paid us many visits at the 2008 Primetime Emmy Awards. Whether on neutral, black, or white dresses, sparkly beads and crystals made the carpet a much more luminous place tonight. Case in point: Kyra Sedgwick in L'Wren Scott (left). Without the bead detailing, the dress would simply be a plain white dress. Gasp! Beading also appeared on asymmetrical straps, cap sleeves, trains, and sprinkled all over. See who else was dripping with beading.

The 2008 Emmys churned out a grand selection of gowns. But when it came to favorites, your votes went to either the light and lovely looks or the dark and mysterious ones. While there was color on the red carpet, the most stunning looks didn't need the help of a hue. My heart goes to Olivia Wilde in romantic Reem Acra, but also Debra Messing in dramatic Monique Lhuillier. Night and day, day and night. Which of these salt and peppered looks was the grandest of all?
I knew there was something about January Jones when I met her. This is someone fashion eyeballs should be paying attention to. Her corseted white frilly Dolce & Gabbana dress is something to talk about. I love how it is romantic and sultry at the same time. And her triple headband and vintage-inspired accessories are icing on the Mad Men cake. Do you dig it?
Hayden looks all grown up in this fitted-to-perfection silk gown. The black on black beading is ultra elegant and the pattern on the torso makes my eyes dance. She looks like she loves it, do you?
Vanessa Williams strutted the red carpet in a black and white floral Kevan Hall gown with subtle ruching. The jeweled asymmetrical strap adds interest and complements her diamond bracelet and drop earrings. How do you feel about this ensemble? Love or hate?
Kate Walsh looks striking in a tiered beaded gown by Zuhair Murad. The horizontal mesh inlay makes her look even taller and check out those stunning earrings. A metallic clutch, black cutout heels, and diamond cuff adds elegance to her art deco drama.
Rihanna bundled up for her appearance on The Late Show and looked perfectly chic while waving to her New York fans. She kept things simple in all black but mixed patterns and textures to create a unique look.
