2008 MTV VMAs Poll

Did you notice how much sparkle there was last night at the 2008 MTV VMAs? But shine didn't necessary equal standing out on the red carpet. Two sequined ladies that did wow you were Miley Cyrus in her flapper-inspired dress and Audrina Patridge in her sexy gold number. Lauren Conrad's revealing yet stylish white frock and Bar Refaeli's casual Hurley tank dress and Badgley Mischka statement jewels also appealed to you. You didn't love Nicky Hilton's Opening Ceremony LBD so much, but I always have to back up a girl who takes a risk. Between all of us, the candidates for best dressed at the VMAs has been narrowed down to Miley, Bar, Lauren, Audrina, and Nicky. Who wins your vote?

Miss Britney Jean Spears is back! At last year's disastrous VMAs, she looked lost, hurt, and confused. But last night, Brit picked up a few awards, giving her plenty to smile about.

What a difference a year makes! I haven't covered Britney's style very much over the last year, because let's face it: She's had much more important things to worry about than how she looks. With that said, though, she seems much more confident and healthy these days, and if looking this coiffed and glossed is part of her comeback, I'd say she's doing a fine job. Would you?

Heidi Montag of The Hills might not be smiling at her former pal Lauren Conrad, but you'd never know there's an ounce of tension judging from this happy photo here. Her wide smile and pink-toned makeup are friendly and sweet. But, the intense, thick black liner lets us know that she's got a bit of an edge (as do those huge earrings). Expectant mom Ashlee Simpson wore basic black at this year's VMAs, and kept her makeup simple with a teal eyeliner and smooth hair. Since she's likely not coloring her hair at the moment, Ashlee had fun with length. A lot of length. She's definitely a candidate for our hair extensions quiz series. Chunky black wedges keep her steady while diamond encrusted bangles add a dramatic touch to her look. Her red hair and striking green eyes contrasts her black ensemble to perfection. Nicky Hilton looks like she could be one of the backup girls from the Robert Palmer video, "Simply Irresistible." She's definitely got the dress to match, so I'm assuming the look is an homage to that great video. How appropriate; this is MTV after all. The quintessential Palmer look is mainly about the hair, and Nicky's is slicked back to perfection. She went a little softer on the lips than the Palmer girls, but the eyes are fit for the video. It's interesting how heavy she went on the upper lid, but not as much on the lower. What do you think, is Nicky "Simply Irresistible?"

With the numbvr of makeup artists and hairstylists clamoring to be able to say they dolled up a celebrity for the red carpet, it can be frustrating when one of them shows up looking a little underdone. That certainly isn't the case here, so I'm ready to give Christina Aguilera two thumbs up for having a dramatic look. It's clear Christina really went for it with her two-tone wild cat eye, false lashes and eye-grazing bangs. Do you like?

Look who invested in Gucci's Fall stud booties? It's none other than label-loving Heidi Montag. She keeps it fairly straightforward tonight in an off-shoulder sequined LBD and large hoop earrings. The stud booties have been purposefully made the center of attention, as they should be. Are you feeling this?

Do you have a signature look? Well, I think Miley's got her own signature look down pat. Long, flowing waves are the epitome of her style, along with a darkly lined smoky eye and pink lips to complete. The young talent dips into the past with a flirty and fun vintage flapper-esque dress.
