2009 Costume Institute Gala Poll

I wonder if Chanel Iman imagined one day she would be up against her model idol Iman. It's times like this you better believe my job can be challenging. Gossip Girl Leighton Meester bravely walked the red carpet wearing a psychedelic paisley print avant-garde confection by Louis Vuitton. The dress and matching tights are a little over the top for my liking, but props to Meester for trying new things. Satin Louis Vuitton ankle wrap pumps (Victoria Beckham wore a similar pair ), jeweled bangles, and cherry-red lips top her doll-like ensemble. Do you love it or hate it?

Lovely Liv looks every bit the part of a '40s screen siren — with a bit of '80s eye makeup for a twist. The smoky eye is more surprising when it's done in shades of blue, and shiny raspberry lips make the most of Liv's pretty pucker. (Also, I want her perfect eyebrows.) Ivanka Trump doesn't need much to stun, but a little Brian Reyes never hurt anyone. Her nude tulle gown exudes beautiful sophistication. Note how the slim back belt calls attention to her waist — nice. For accessories, Ivanka chose silver drop earrings and bangles from her own jewelry line, satin Christian Louboutin peep-toe pumps, and Judith Leiber clutch. What do you think?

It seems that Kate Bosworth may have used old Hollywood as her inspiration — instead of the models as her muse — for her look tonight. She was the spitting image of Veronica Lake. Her long, open curls called to mind the actress of the '40s, and her makeup was just as stunning (though not as reminiscent since Lake's films were in black-and-white).
