Biggest Headline of 2009: Kanye West Storms Taylor Swift's VMA Acceptance

The VMAs was memorable not for the awards, the show, or the fashion — but for Kanye West's infamous interruption of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech.

The VMAs was memorable not for the awards, the show, or the fashion — but for Kanye West's infamous interruption of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech. He stormed the stage after Taylor won Best Female Video for her "You Belong With Me," irate over the fact that Beyonce's "Single Ladies" had lost. Beyonce, with her always great manners, welcomed Taylor back to the stage to complete her thank-you's later in the night. His drinking Hennessy on the red carpet probably didn't do much to help his frame of mind, and the fallout from his shocking outburst was huge — even President Obama weighed in on the situation. Kanye apologized once, and then twice, but you guys still thought all the uproar was totally justified. He took the opportunity to sit down and explain himself on Jay Leno's new show, expressing his sorrow over the ordeal nearly in tears. Taylor ultimately got the last laugh, though, when she skewered the incident during her turn hosting SNL. Kanye has been laying pretty low since September, though he did receive six Grammy nominations, while Taylor got eight.

How-To: Kristen Stewart's Faux Bowl Cut at the 2009 VMAs

It's pretty safe to say that last night's 2009 MTV VMAs were one of the most entertaining in recent history.

It's pretty safe to say that last night's 2009 MTV VMAs were one of the most entertaining in recent history. You had your Kanye outburst, Pink's Cirque du Soleil-style act, Lady Gaga's bloody performance, and cast members from Twilight taking the stage to premiere the New Moon trailer. (And in case you didn't hear the buzz, it was also a night for Kristen Stewart to cozy up with costar Robert Pattinson backstage.) At first, it looked like Kristen had chopped her Joan Jett-esque locks, but alas, it was just the mastery of Pantene celebrity stylist Hallie Bowman, who created this edgy, faux-bowl-cut style with a modern feel. Now, I know many of you might not be fans of the throwback look, but if you're bored with your style and don't want to cut several inches to achieve a new look, this technique might just work for you.
To find out what magic Bowman performed on Kristen, read more.

The MTV VMAs was a party in itself, but when the show ended all the celebs spread out around town to keep the good times and red carpet highlights rolling. Lady GaGa was joined by Kristin Cavallari, Russell Brand, Jessica Alba, and Diddy for a bash at Avenue, while an Epic Records dinner at the Waverly Inn brought out Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony and Shakira. Pete Wentz hosted friends at his bar Angels & Kings, and InTouch's ICONS + IDOLS soiree gathered Kim Kardashian, Whitney Port, Gerard Butler and even Jon Gosselin. Jay-Z hit the official MTV post-awards celebration, as did Justin Timberlake and a tummy-baring Rihanna, before heading to 1Oak for an after-after party with Jessica Alba and Katy Perry.

Do, Dump, or Marry? Russell Brand

I'm not sure what to think of this guy. Sometimes he has the right amount of scruff and charm, and at other times, I think he seems a little skeevy. What about you?
