Which Penelope Cruz Oscar Look Is More Fab?

The Oscars is a huge affair in Hollywood.

The Oscars is a huge affair in Hollywood. That's why it's appropriate that most actresses had not one but two dresses to celebrate in. At the actual show, Penelope Cruz donned a vintage Balmain that was like a fairy tale. But at the Vanity Fair afterparty, out came her sizzling side in a white one-shoulder dress with a major slit. Both are gorgeous, but which is more Fab?

Cheap & Chic: Emerald Envy

True, Angelina Jolie's Elie Saab black sweetheart Oscars gown was simple.

True, Angelina Jolie's Elie Saab black sweetheart Oscars gown was simple. Also true: Her Lorraine Schwartz $2.5M oversize teardrop dangles were knockouts. They, along with an emerald ring, really made her look, and the best part was they were unexpected. We always see diamonds and sparkle at the awards shows, but these are the biggest, boldest emeralds I've ever seen. They left me with emerald envy. You may or may not know that emeralds are one the costliest gems. But you too can make the world green with envy. Put together a sharp all-black ensemble with one of these and someone will notice, I promise.

Come Inside the Governors Ball

After the big show in the Kodak Theater, the first stop for many of the attendees was the Governors Ball.

After the big show in the Kodak Theater, the first stop for many of the attendees was the Governors Ball. Along with attending this year's Oscars via the red carpet and the press room, we were fortunate enough to have a ticket to the fancy affair. While on the inside we watched the celebrities feast on their Wolfgang Puck meal set in the Asian-themed room decor. Celebs made their way through additional television press, which included a lot of singing from the youngest of the Slumdog cast, who were some of the last to arrive. Anne Hathaway continued to make it a family affair posing with her brother. She was being greeted nonstop and barely found any time to eat her meal, which included a three-tiered chocolate dessert with an Oscar on the top. Robert Pattinson and fellow teen heartthrob Zac Efron chatted and toasted with Vanessa Hudgens before heading over to the VF afterparty. There was lots of casual mingling with peers in the ballroom and some took a few smoking breaks on the side. Heidi and Seal continued to make the rounds, but were they your favorite Oscar couple of the night?

Lighten Up! Is Jon Stewart the George W. Bush of the Oscars?

Two-time Oscar host Jon Stewart may actually have something in common with two-term President George W.

Two-time Oscar host Jon Stewart may actually have something in common with two-term President George W. Bush. Their performances leading the ship (the Academy Awards ceremony and the United States, respectively) inspired a call for a drastically new direction.

Jon hosted the Academy Awards in 2005, and he apparently did a good enough job to be asked back in 2008. But following his second performance, the Academy Awards decided it was time for change. Voters brought in liberal president Barack Obama, and the Oscars brought in song-and-dance man Hugh Jackman. Check out this video of John Oliver laying into his boss, Jon Stewart!
