>> Who Buys Victoria's Secret's Million-Dollar Fantasy Bras? —Every year, one Victoria's Secret Angel is chosen to wear a multimillion dollar diamond bra — this year, Marisa Miller donned the $3 million Harlequin Fantasy Bra, courtesy of Damiani — for the brand's annual Fashion Show, but what happens to the bra after the taping? The Wall Street Journal reports: "No one has ever purchased the Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra, the company said. Past bras — including the 2006 Hearts on Fire Diamond Fantasy Bra, worth $7 million — have all been dismantled." [WSJ]
>> Sneak Peek: 2009 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Video —You've seen the pictures, but here's the first video preview since the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show taping two weeks ago — complete with Abbey Lee Kershaw shaking her booty. The final cut of the production, which reportedly had a budget of over $10 million, will air tomorrow night, Dec. 1, 10/9 Central on CBS.
Alessandra, Selita, Heidi, Miranda, Marissa — all the angels strutted their hot stuff on the pink carpet at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. And, of course, each picked a frock that suited her sassy personality. From corset style to metallic, mod to wild, these ladies certainly garner attention. But only one VS angel can be most Fab — you decide!
>> Abbey Lee Kershaw wasn't feeling well backstage, neither was Eniko Mihalik, but they pulled it together to walk in the 2009 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, which taped today in New York City — on a big, sparkly V-shaped runway — and will air on CBS Dec. 1. Many of the girls chatted about what they had for breakfast — coffee and fruit for many — but Anja Rubik, who was convinced to walk the show for the first time by good friends (and fellow walkers) Mayna Linchuk and Caroline Trentini, admitted: "I've decided this will be my starving day today."
This year's big surprise? Heidi Klum decided to walk for the twelfth show in a row, after all, six weeks after giving birth to her fourth child. Adriana Lima, on the other hand, who gave birth Sunday, sat this one out; Emanuela de Paula and Flavia Oliveira, rumored to walk, were also nowhere to be seen.
The show features five sections of twelve outfits each — this year's themes are Star Trooper, All Aboard, Pink Planet, Enchanted Forest, and Romantic Journey. As show stylist Charlotte Stockdale explains it: “We came up with the idea of this girl who lands from outer space in Paris. She gets on a train that comes to a halt in Pinkland, where pink girls get on and off. Then they go into this fairy-tale forest and little lady bugs and butterflies land on them and vines grow up on their clothes. Then, there’s Tick-Tock Time; the wings in this section are based on clocks — there’s one modeled after a pocket watch with metallic feathers. And she ends up in this regal realm of princess-ness, where the wings have Swarovski jewels and peacock feathers.”
Zac Posen, Alexander Wang, Carine Roitfeld (in Tom Ford for Yves Saint Laurent Fall 2002), and Patrick Demarchelier were all in attendance, and Chanel Iman tossed her handbag into the audience as she walked.
>> The likes of Chanel Iman and Dorothea Barth Jorgensen are already getting primped and prepped for the two tapings of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show this afternoon — final cut airs Dec. 1 on CBS — but it seems like mood is light. When Caroline Trentini was asked for a photo backstage, she joked, "Sure! Want me to jump?"
Chanel Iman, meanwhile, prepared for her first Victoria's Secret catwalk by chatting with mentor Tyra Banks and doing a little research. “This might sound corny, but I went on YouTube and I did my homework by going and seeing the different years that Victoria’s Secret has had, the different shows and who did Victoria’s Secret, and studied their walks so that I can turn mine different from everyone else’s!”
2009 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Has More Casting Surprises: Dorothea Barth Jorgensen and Anastasia Kuznetsova
>> Given that the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is taping tomorrow, lots of tidbits have been rolling in between all the fittings and the models' appearance in Times Square this morning. We've gotten previews of Liu Wen's (two!) outfits, as well as those of VS regulars Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Selita Ebanks, and after this morning's appearance, more clues as to who will be walking — including a few surprises.
Spring 2010 runway newcomer Anastasia Kuznetsova and Dorothea Barth Jorgensen both popped up in the Times Square photos, as did Elyse Taylor, Sessilee Lopez, and Russian model Tatiana Kovylina, who walked for Victoria's Secret in 2005. Anja Rubik and Abbey Lee Kershaw have also been confirmed as show castmembers, but have yet to make an appearance, and although unconfirmed, Anna Maria Jagodzinska's photo was on the show casting board, so she may show up as well.
UPDATE: Photos of Anna J. and Edita Vilkeviciute have been spotted on the casting board in a newly posted video; word is Emanuela de Paula will not be walking after all because of a conflicting photoshoot. [YouTube, TFS, TFS]
>> Adriana Lima Has a Baby Girl —If there was any question of whether Adriana Lima was going to pop up to join Heidi Klum in her hosting duties at Thursday's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show taping, here's your answer: not likely. Lima welcomed her first child, Valentina Lima Jaric, with husband Marko Jaric yesterday in New York City. [People]
>> Video: More Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Casting Hints —The taping of Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is less than a week away, fittings are well under way — Alessandra Ambrosio has hers today — and twenty models, including the Angels walking, have now been confirmed for the show. According to John Pfeiffer, the show's casting director, there will be about 30 to 35 total models; in the casting video below, Cintia Dicker, Eniko Milhalik, Arlenis Sosa Pena, Bruno Tenorio, Yulia Kharlapanova, and Emina Cunmulaj all make appearances — but who will fill out the rest of the cast? >> One week from today, this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show will be taping in New York City — so who's stepping foot on the runway?
In addition to nine Angels who are walking (not including Heidi Klum, who just had a baby and is hosting, and Adriana Lima, who is still pregnant), Modelinia has confirmed that Izabel Goulart, Isabeli Fontana, Erin Heatherton, Shannan Click, Caroline Winberg, and Flavia Oliveira are all returning from last year, Caroline Trentini is making her first appearance since the 2006 show, and Lyndsey Scott, Aminata Niaria, Lily Aldridge, Liu Wen (and new Angel Chanel Iman) are all walking for the first time. Liu's appearance marks the first by an Asian model since Ujjwala Raut walked the 2003 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
>> Interior Designer to Alexander Wang, Now to the Models? —Last night, Natasha Poly, Victoria Traina, and Alexander Wang teamed up to celebrate the launch of interior designer (an co-owner of Edon Manor boutique) Ryan Korban's signature website at the Soho Grand Hotel. Korban and Wang have been close friends since they went to college together — they collaborate often, on Wang's offices, for one — and Natasha Poly's up next — Korban will be doing an apartment she has yet to buy. No doubt, he'll have more models than just Poly to add to his client list soon — we counted over 25 showing up to the fete, including Maryna Linchuk, who palled around with Poly, Jessica Stam, Hanne-Gaby Odiele, Mirte Maas, Olga Sherer, Iris Strubegger, and Rose Cordero. One more tidbit that Poly let fly: she may not be doing the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show for the second year in a row — she has to choose between that or a shoot in Morocco. [Style.com, Modelinia]
