We heart Diane von Furstenberg. The Wonder Woman never ceases to amaze us with her power-packed prints, flattering femme cuts, and edgy pop. Needless to say, her new Pre-Fall look book left us immediately infatuated. While Summer takes its magnificent toll, let's daydream about DVF's rustic woolen coats, feather printed frocks, and poison green leather bombers. Since we can't decide which is our fave, we'll take 'em all.
There's that time between Summer and Fall when it gets a little nippy, but not nippy enough to don a Winter coat. Designers like to call that transitional period Pre-Fall. Alexander Wang designed some perfect duds for those not-too-cold, not-too-hot days. We did all the grunt work (so tough) and picked out the top 10 pieces from his Pre-Fall '10 collection; if supple gray duffles, shadow stripe minis, and zippered sunnies tickle your fancy, keep clicking!
The fashion world will never be done mourning Alexander McQueen. But, according to PPR president Francois-Henri Pinault, the brand will go on. Before we witness McQueen's last Fall RTW collection at Paris Fashion Week, let's marvel at his pre-Fall pieces. Each one more stunning than the next, further solidifying the late designer's genius status. Tweeds, graphics, suits, coats, fur, lace — not to be missed, seriously.
The latest Pre-Fall '10 collections have been released, and the forecast calls for neon, velvet, fur, draping, and structure. While most designers went down the posh path, Nicolas Ghesquière took Balenciaga back to the sporty trail. In contrast, Phoebe Philo's Celine (left) is more luxurious via feathers, sheepskin, and sharp outerwear. Proceed to see which direction Lanvin, Proenza Schouler, Alberta Ferretti, and Nina Ricci have taken for Pre-Fall.
Allow me to dump another load of pre-Fall pretties in your lap(top). While some designers went a more serious route — Jason Wu left the frills at home this time around, Thakoon went urban — some delivered opulence. Thank you Oscar de la Renta, Donna Karan, and Carolina Herrera for your luxurious, colorful, and rich confections — hello fabulous pink fur! Without them, pre-Fall would be a lonely place. Then there's D&G who delivered a dollop of sexy. Continue on to see what I mean.
Are you thirsty for more 2010 Pre-Fall action? You know I am. This time, heavy hitters such as Alexander Wang, Chanel, Rachel Roy, Narciso Rodriguez, Burberry Prorsum, and Michael Kors showed us what Fall in the new decade means to them. Furry vests, streamlined trenches, cropped pants, and pretty prints were all present to keep us warm and svelte during cold months. This Diane von Furstenberg ensemble is on the top of my list. The moody print dress, draped shawl cardi, and beanie combo captures the very essence of my girlie spirit.
Are you ready for some Pre-Fall action? The first batch of Pre-Fall '10 is in and it's all courtesy of those talented Italians. Versace, Missoni, Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti, and Roberto Cavalli's main and Just Cavalli collections are all represented. You'll find lots of knits, furs, feathers, and dark hues but also a few flavorful maxis and minis. My favorite Pre-Fall line so far is Moschino Cheap & Chic (left) — a bit raw, a bit lady, all impeccably styled.
