Trend Alert: Resort Brights

This time of year is all about getting the best of both worlds.

This time of year is all about getting the best of both worlds. You've got holiday cheer — and the cozy clothes that go with it, but there's always the promise of escape — and a fresh wardrobe — via resort collections. Kate Mara is a pretty example of how to play with resort brights. Rather than the expected LBD or even a jewel tone, she goes light and bright in a sweet turquoise sheath. If you're tempted to do the same, embrace the call to resort wear with neon brights, salmon-hued minis, and pretty sea tones — then book your warm-weather getaway to complete the look!

Cruise 2011: Mara Hoffman

If anyone can make clothes fit for a cruise, it's print-master Mara Hoffman.

If anyone can make clothes fit for a cruise, it's print-master Mara Hoffman. This time around, the designer named her print "Electric Garden." The vivacious pattern fuses together acid green, turquoise, salmon, gray, and black; it's slightly trippy, yet totally pretty. Cuts range from signature maxis and strapless dresses to short shorts and cropped pants. This is the most daring look of all; the red bustier is a sexy classic, while the paperbag cropped pants feed into the printed pants trend. Overall, this collection is perfect for a picnic, bay cruise, or late-night dance party.

Sneak Peek! Georgia May Jagger, Chanel Cruise '11

After working her stuff on the runway for Chanel's Cruise collection, Georgia May Jagger is continuing her Karl streak with an ad for the Cruise collection.

After working her stuff on the runway for Chanel's Cruise collection, Georgia May Jagger is continuing her Karl streak with an ad for the Cruise collection. Shot by the Kaiser himself, Georgia looks every bit the cool girl in the brand's bohemian cool offerings.

"Because Miss Jagger is the modern girl. She is the girl of today. There is a total identification between her and the clothes. They could be her clothes," Lagerfeld said. "She is totally at home in Chanel. And that fits in the pattern of what Saint-Tropez can represent, what it is not really and yet what it can inspire."

Georgia is a refreshing, off-kilter addition to Karl's clan — we can't wait to see more from the sultry model.
