Fall 2011 Paris Fashion Week: Elie Saab 2011-03-09 15:31:40

Elie Saab, a favorite of high-wattage celebs like Halle Berry, showed a polished collection of daywear before wowing us with his evening dresses. It seemed designed to appeal to a wide variety of ladies — there were skinny pants and tunics for the minimalist, peplum jackets for the retro feminine gal, and draped jersey cocktail dresses for the '70s fan. Even the colors were varied; rather than sticking to a neutral palette or all jewel tones, he balanced it out. The evening dresses were sleek, cut close to the body with draping and ruching, and the red-carpet looks were delivered beaded, and even some with thigh-high slits up the leg. Overall it was a crowd-pleaser, full of pretty clothes for pretty women.

  • Trends: Ladylike polish, peplum, minimalism.
  • Colors: Siren red, neutrals, burgundy, black, nude.
  • Key Looks: The sparkly beaded evening gowns.
  • Accessories: Belts on dresses, cool minimalist cuff neck pieces.
  • Who Would Wear It: Women with red-carpet obligations.

Fall 2011 Paris Fashion Week: Miu Miu 2011-03-09 15:01:42

Miuccia Prada showed her Fall collection for Miu Miu today, which she described as "sweet, charming, feminine, nice — and always thinking of the important woman." The genesis? A '40s-inspired collection that was given a dose of modernity in the way of floral or bird print wrap dresses paired with tilted baseball caps and glittery platform heels, or even a wool suit remixed with a boyish top and refreshing ruching effect. Mink fur and oversized bow belts added a decadent touch, while oversized shoulder silhouettes lend a directional look. For accessories, big frame clutches, draped bow shoes, and funky sunnies will undoubtedly top the must-haves list of every kitschy cool girl out there.

  • Trends: '40s, wide shoulders, pencil skirts.
  • Colors: Mustard, red, black, taupe, blue.
  • Key Looks: Floral and bird print wrap dresses, double-breasted wool jacket dresses.
  • Accessories: Glittery platform heels, bow-embellished shoes.
  • Who Would Wear It: Kitschy cool girls like Alexa Chung.

Bingbing Fan Matches Her Hair and Makeup to Her Paris Fashion

Bingbing Fan, the enormously popular Chinese actress and Mandopop star, clearly adores Paris fashion, because she's been at many of the week's top shows sporting hair, makeup, and accessories to match the designer.

Bingbing Fan, the enormously popular Chinese actress and Mandopop star, clearly adores Paris fashion, because she's been at many of the week's top shows sporting hair, makeup, and accessories to match the designer. Clockwise from top left, you can see her in Chinoiserie style at Louis Vuitton, in a couture turban and paled-out foundation going into Elie Saab, pretty and polished at Valentino with a red wig, and retro-chic at Dior.

Celebrities often wear a designer's clothing to their presentation, but Bingbing's showing a theatrical flair that takes her looks a couple steps closer to the runway. Do you wish more celebrities would have this much fun dressing the part?

Oscar nominees Hailee Steinfeld and Jennifer Lawrence reunited with Black Swan's Mila Kunis this afternoon in Paris for the Miu Miu runway show. It was the second major Fall Fashion Week event that went down today, after Kate Moss strutted down the Louis Vuitton catwalk with Naomi Campbell as Emma Stone watched from the front row. The stylish festivities have drawn lots of celebrities to the city, with Kanye West and Katy Perry catching up at a presentation yesterday, Lady Gaga walking for Thierry Mugler, and the likes of Jennifer Hudson and Mary J. Blige celebrating 30 years of Michael Kors at a recent cocktail party.

Love It or Hate It? Kate Moss's Return-to-the-Runway Beauty Look

Kate Moss hasn't been spotted on the runway since 2004, but earlier today she made her triumphant return at Louis Vuitton's Paris show.

Kate Moss hasn't been spotted on the runway since 2004, but earlier today she made her triumphant return at Louis Vuitton's Paris show. Wearing a tightly slicked-back ponytail with a sparkling mask headband on top, Kate completed her look with defined brows, contoured blush, and black liner winged out at the sides, and also applied at the inner corners of the eyes. A cigarette provided that touch of edginess we've all come to expect from Kate. (Wonder how the puffing fits into that whole smoking ban thing in France?) What do you think of Kate's return-to-the-runway look: smoking hot or not?
