At the house of Galliano, the show went on. John Galliano's studio, led by long-time Galliano right-hand man Bill Gaytten, produced a louche but pretty collection that harkens to the Jazz Age of the '20s and '30s. The inspiration? American blues singer Bessie Smith, who was photographed in feminine dresses and jackets. Click the slideshow to see the line. What do you think about the company's decision to continue with the Galliano line while John Galliano stands trial for public insult? Let us know in the comments.

Resort 2012 continues with an emphasis on colorblocking, tons of color — notably pink and yellow, plenty of vacation-ready dresses, and fresh takes on floral prints. Our favorites from this latest showing of resort collections? Givenchy with its futuristic florals; Celine for its completely modern approach to menswear, subtle femininity, and freshness; Preen's pretty colorblocking; and the exotic, totally pretty prints from Tory Burch and Suno. Trend Alert: Resort Brights

This time of year is all about getting the best of both worlds.

This time of year is all about getting the best of both worlds. You've got holiday cheer — and the cozy clothes that go with it, but there's always the promise of escape — and a fresh wardrobe — via resort collections. Kate Mara is a pretty example of how to play with resort brights. Rather than the expected LBD or even a jewel tone, she goes light and bright in a sweet turquoise sheath. If you're tempted to do the same, embrace the call to resort wear with neon brights, salmon-hued minis, and pretty sea tones — then book your warm-weather getaway to complete the look!

Check out this thrifty, cute Resort collection shopping post from OnSugar blog Beauty and the Budget.

I always love the resort collections and the luxurious lifestyles they promote. The clothes are for the people who actually have somewhere to go and need a wardrobe to fit the occasion — those who can leave New York City in the middle of winter and fly to Bali for a nice break. While the resort collections are becoming a major commercial entity, they are still far out of my budget. However, that doesn't mean I can't find some resort-inspired clothes for a sensible price.

Unfortunately, due to the BP oil spill, I won't be taking any resort vacations this summer. Recently, I went to Gulf Shores, Alabama, for a day long beach trip that was abruptly ruined when my boyfriend and I realized the red flags were up and there was no swimming allowed. For those of you who are lucky enough to be away from the Gulf Coast during this tumultuous time, enjoy your summer vacation in some sensible resort-inspired clothing. In my resort collection, you'll find a sophisticated mix of summer's most popular trends all under $25. I love sheer fabrics, embroidery, bright colors, and of course, floral prints!
