Much like the cirque du freak, the gypsy requires piling it all on. It's no secret Halloween is our favorite holiday here at Fab. Every year we get so excited to bring you our A Fabby Halloween series, and this year was no exception. With all this talk of vampires — and the most Fab vamps of all — there couldn't be a better time than this Halloween to channel a vampiress. You know the look: bloody fangs, bloodshot eyes, maroon nails, spikes, velvet, black corsets, pointy pumps. The more brooding the better. It's up to you which route you want to go, sexy or all-out scary. Just know that you might not be the only vampiress on the block. But hey, a little vamp competition might be fun!

What better way to pay tribute to the late Patrick Swayze than with an ode to his "Baby" in Dirty Dancing? The story of a rich and innocent teenage girl turned infatuated woman will always be engraved in my memory. My favorite scene was when Frances "Baby" Houseman told Swayze she carried a watermelon — hilarious. Replicate Baby's innocent '80s look in a white Summer dress and matching heels, or with high-waist denim shorts and a cropped white top. Oh yes, don't forget the tight curls and sexy dance moves!

No doubt, the King of Pop (RIP) will be a popular choice for Halloween this year. Who doesn't want to emulate such saucy style and cool character? Channeling your inner Micheal Jackson requires androgynous dressing: a white tee, loose cropped trousers, a drummer jacket — local thrift stores are filled with treasures from this era. Don't forget essential accessories like white socks, a black fedora, and trademark silver sequin glove. I'm bad, you know it . . .

If I didn't already plan my Halloween costume this year – I'm going to be a mermaid — I would totally be a cancan girl. But hey, there's always next year, right? In case you didn't know, cancan dancers first derived from Paris in the mid 1800s. They were known for performing lively, leg-kicking dances in a chorus line. Since then, the dance style has spread across the world. You can always spot a cancan dancer by her awesome costume: long fluffy skirts, petticoats, corsets, stockings, and colorful feather headgear. You too, can be a cancan.

Do you have the gall to be Vogue editor Anna Wintour for Halloween this year? Then you've got some major competition. Model Snejana Onopka, left, did a spot-on impersonation of Anna in Vogue Paris a while back. Let it be your guide. I first suggest watching The September Issue, you know, as field research. Next, it's imperative to have the following Anna signatures: a perfectly neat bob wig, some form of (faux) fur, dark sunglasses, and slingback sandals with a kitten heel. Also, carry the latest issue of Vogue, hunch over just a tad, and don't crack a smile. I know, it's tough being Anna, but well worth it.

Her ornate headpieces, dewy makeup, and flowy dresses are so beautiful, it can turn the most brash man into a smitten softy. Cirque du Soleil turns 25 years old this year — a quarter of a century of amazing acrobatics, over-the-top costumes, and praise-worthy showmanship. If you've ever been to one of Cirque's shows, you know it's all about the theatrics. Lots and lots of it! Colorful stripes, silly polka dots, top hats, sequins, feathers, bow ties, and ballet slippers are all part of the freaky fun.
