>> For the 2011 Pirelli calendar, which launched in Moscow today, Karl Lagerfeld said that he produced “the visual version of Homer. I did with my camera what he did with his pen, although we understand that he probably didn't use a pen.” Lagerfeld gathered 15 female models, 5 male models, and Julianne Moore in his Paris studio back in April to produce 36 black and white images of deities from ancient Greece and Rome for the calendar. “I wanted to do something different. I looked at all the other calendars,” he explained, adding: “With such a concept and boys and girls like this, it was an easy job.”

Lagerfeld was surrounded by a cadre of the models featured for the Moscow launch, including Natasha Poly sporting a new brunette hair color. But who did he cast as whom? Julianne Moore plays Hera, Brad Kroenig poses as Zeus, Lara Stone gives her best Aphrodite, Jeneil Williams channels Hades, and Baptiste Giabiconi embodies the roles of both Narcissus and Apollo.

The rest of the cast includes: Bianca Balti (as a Bacchante), Elisa Sednaoui (Flora, Echo), Freja Beha Erichsen (Apollo, Pollux, Orpheus), Isabeli Fontana (a Bacchante), Magdalena Frackowiak (Athena, Estia), Anja Rubik (Hermes, Terpsichore), Abbey Lee Kershaw (Echo, Castor, Eurydice), Lakshmi Menon (a Bacchante), Heidi Mount (Aurora, Amphitrite), Erin Wasson (Ajax, a Bacchante), Natasha Poly (Melpomene), Daria Werbowy (Artemis, Penthesilea), Iris Strubegger (Athena), Sebastien Jondeau (Mars), Garret Neff (Bacchus), and Jake Davis (Achilles).

A peek at the calendar and launch below.

2010 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Casting Video; Plus — Who's Confirmed So Far (Karolina Kurkova Is!)

>> With the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show taping a week away, fittings are well under way — Alessandra Ambrosio, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Behati Prinsloo were snapped going to theirs yesterday, and Chanel Iman was there, too. She tweeted yesterday: "All day prep for Victoria Secret Show and most exciting FITTING!!! Keeping everything a Secret!!SSSSHHHH......!! ;)" Today, Lily Aldridge was on deck, and Izabel Goulart, too, has stopped in — apparently she's getting wings this year, and cried at her fitting when she found out.

A video of the show's castings has popped up (above) — hopefuls Hana Soukupova and Shannan Click are among those shown — and Monica Mitro, who has been casting the show for 16 years, since its inception, says, "It's really difficult because we see a lot of great girls … they come in here in their bras and panties, and normally that's not the way castings go, but we have to see how everything looks together … they literally have to be perfect."

Those deemed perfect so far? Besides those mentioned above, Flavia de Oliveira, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Liu Wen, Anja Rubik, Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel, Erin Heatherton, Isabeli Fontana, Lindsay Ellingson, Jessica Stam, Emanuela de Paula, Maryna Linchuk, Magdalena Frackowiak, Edita Vilkeviciute, and as rumored, Karolina Kurkova, are all expected.

One Gold Balmain Dress Has Graced Six Fall Fashion Covers

>> Balmania is clearly not entirely over. One Miu Miu dress style (two colors) scored at least three fashion magazine covers over the Summer, but in the months since, a Fall 2010 gold Balmain dress — originally worn by Anja Rubik on the runway — is besting the Miu Miu dress twice over, with six covers so far.

The Balmain look was first spotted on Abbey Lee Kershaw's August 2010 Vogue Germany cover, and has since been sported on covers by Cindy Crawford, Anna Dello Russo, and Natalia Vodianova. At least one more cover may be on the way — Anne Hathaway is said to be wearing "sparkly gold" Balmain on Elle UK's December 2010 cover.

Milan Fashion Week Street Style: Abbey Lee Kershaw

A sheer maxi skirt is a daring take on the pervasive Fall trend, but Abbey Lee Kershaw took on the challenge with pure finesse.

A sheer maxi skirt is a daring take on the pervasive Fall trend, but Abbey Lee Kershaw took on the challenge with pure finesse. Between shows on Milan Fashion Week's first day, Abbey contrasted her new platinum 'do with a see-through skirt, metallic jacket, and asymmetrical nude top. Emulate her fresh ensemble with this sheer chiffon skirt by Free People, an Alice + Olivia jacket, and a beige Preen top.

Among the moments captured: Anja Rubik having a quiet moment alone pre-Wang with her Blackberry, Prabal Gurung's model powwow, gratuitous shoe shots from Ohne Titel, Abbey Lee Kershaw still in her street style, and more than a few models goofing off. New York Treated to a Karl Lagerfeld Appearance at Chanel's Soho Store Re-Opening Last Night

>> Baptiste Giabiconi was rumored to make his singing debut at the Chanel Soho store party in New York last night — Karl Lagerfeld is reportedly pushing him to be a pop star — but apparently he got cold feet. Instead, guests were treated to the redone store, cordoned off from the public by a LED display wall playing Chanel videos and brimming with editors (Sally Singer, Robbie Myers, Cecilia Dean, Amy Astley); models (Heidi Mount, Jessica Stam, Magdalena Frackowiak, Anja Rubik, Freja Beha Erichsen, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Erin Wasson, Shalom Harlow, Crystal Renn); and Chanel favorites like Poppy Delevigne, Caroline Sieber, Diane Kruger, Liv Tyler, Courtney Love, and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Alexa Chung, who was DJing the party, asked last night if she could buy the new Chanel Les Khakis nail polish (which came out today), but she was told she had to wait until this morning to pick it up. And before Lagerfeld arrived, publicists scraped graffiti stickers, posters, and fliers off the scaffolding by the red carpet. They even had box cutters to scrape off tape and remnants. But that wasn't the only prep done in anticipation of Lagerfeld's arrival: The Daily reports from sources working in the building that houses the Soho boutique that Lagerfeld also demanded his own private bathroom to use during the party, and thus, one was built.

Waiters stood by holding trays of Chanel-logoed spray paint cans which could be used to tag a LED wall near the store's entrance, and the gift bag held a silk scarf printed with a polar bear among camellias. Lagerfeld also took the opportunity to show off his new discovery, 19-year-old French singer Izia, who took the stage at the party (thus intimidating Giabiconi).

>> Abbey Lee Kershaw Has Gone Platinum Blonde —Abbey Lee Kershaw, who not long ago cut her hair short, has taken the change even further. "I was ready for a big change," she explained this evening at the Chanel Soho store opening in New York, where she debuted her newly-dyed platinum blonde hair. She plans to keep the color all season, "unless a designer asks for it to be changed." How's it been received so far? "I only dyed it two days ago, so no one's really seen it yet." She told Modelinia of the dye job: "It took seven hours and I didn’t speak for another four hours. I’ve never dyed my hair before. Also I think that with the cut that I’ve got, it was the time to go white.”

See the Model-Packed Fashion's Night Out PSA

>> Last year's Fashion's Night Out public service announcement featured designers and models, but this year's features the latter exclusively: 14 models, (including Karlie Kloss, Caroline Trentini, Doutzen Kroes, Liya Kebede, Karolina Kurkova, Lara Stone, Miranda Kerr, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Joan Smalls, Chanel Iman, Stella Tennant, Lily Donaldson, Sasha Pivovarova, and Jourdan Dunn) filmed by Peter Lindbergh for two days all around New York City.

“This year, it was really about fashion hitting the streets,” Trey Laird, who developed the segment, told WWD. “It was important that all of New York City was represented.” Thus, filming locations included PS 1 in Long Island City, the Bronx Zoo, Central Park, and Lincoln Center. Tabitha Simmons styled the shoot (behind the scenes images here), and the resulting 30-, 15-, and 10-second spots launch on television, in taxi cabs, and online today. From Sept. 3 to 10, they will be shown nine times an hour on the Toshiba screen in Times Square.
