Adam For Mango Presentation & Look Book

American designer Adam Lippes teamed up with Spanish retailer, Mango, to put out a Spring range of sporty, casual looks poised to hit shelves on March 1st. Yesterday, we checked out the Adam For Mango collection at a presentation on the roof deck of the Gramercy Hotel. For starters we can say that on a quality scale this collaboration ranks high; the fabrics were amazing to the touch and no seam was unfinished nor garment unlined. Otherwise, the collection satisfies both Adam's signature aesthetic--a sporty, sophisticated look--and the broader trends of the season. Check out our snapshots from the presentation and the full look book below.

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2009: Adam Lippes

Adam always rocks my world.

Adam always rocks my world. For Fall, Adam was smitten by 19th century hand tinted Japanese photographs. You could see traces of this in cherry blossom embellishments, kimono swirls, and vibrant colors. But I also saw an exotic traveler in some of his goods. Adam never shies away from a bold pink or sparkle, thus my continuous adoration of the line. Layering, tailored jackets, and silky trousers aroused; effervescent furs were divine. And there were plenty of, you guessed it, cardigans. I'll take it all.

P.S. Newbie ELLE fashion assistant, Joanna, from Stylista sat in my row.

On Our Radar: Mango Collaborates With Adam Lippes

Adam Lippes, who delivered a tip-top Spring '09 collection, is bringing his flavor to Mango.

Adam Lippes, who delivered a tip-top Spring '09 collection, is bringing his flavor to Mango. The designer has created a 24-piece — 12 for women, 12 for men — limited-edition Spring/Summer line that will hit 220 Mango stores March 15. Adam's goal is to inject a taste of American sportswear into the Barcelona-based retailer. The collection colors are mainly bright tempered by classic American pieces like striped sweaters, chiffon dresses, trousers, jackets, and jeans. If it's anything like his past creations, it will be beyond Fab.

Designer Adam Lippes is having a prefall sale you don't want to miss.

Designer Adam Lippes is having a prefall sale you don't want to miss. Trust me. His designs are delicate and feminine without being obnoxious. Take a look and see what I mean.

Among the offerings is this Adam Shirttail Tunic ($159, originally $265). How can one resist the pleated sleeves and collar, and the miniature buttons? There's also a basics sale for those who want something, well, more basic.

Our New Three Days In A Row Tee

This may sound a little disgusting but  we have been wearing the same tee-shirt, baring trips to the gym and bedtime, for three days in a row.

This may sound a little disgusting but  we have been wearing the same tee-shirt, baring trips to the gym and bedtime, for three days in a row. What tee-shirt has us this obsessed? Adam Adam Lippes Long Sleeve Vee T-Shirt.

This 100% pima cotton tee is the platonic ideal of tee-shirt. Its so flattering, so comfortable, and so cozy that literally nothing else feels as "right" in our wardrobe. Longtime Coutorture readers will know of our affection for Adam so its little surprise that with our first Adam tee we have become so enamoured we literally won't take it off. Maybe this is a sign we should get a few more?

Sneak Peek! Adam Lippes Relaunched Basics

You know the brand Adam+Eve?

You know the brand Adam+Eve? Well now designer Adam Lippes has nixed that name and relaunched his basics under Adam. Plain and simple, much like his offerings. The new Adam, debuting on Oct. 15, will offer everything from throw-on dresses to simple slouchy tank tops, sheer camisoles, and chic harem-style bottoms. Prices range from $45 to $200. Not bad.

These pieces come in cashmere and pima blends that are so soft and provide a pretty drape silhouette. Another difference is that Adam is now using a newly developed quality of mercerized cotton, which gives fabrics a lustrous appearance. Perfect.

Fashion in 50 Seconds 9/30 with Balenciaga, Lanvin, and H&M

The record drop in the DOW after the collapse of the bailout plan in Washington was particularly harmful to apparel and retail stocks as fears over the economic turmoil turned to concern over how dramatic drops in consumer confidence will impact holiday spending.

The record drop in the DOW after the collapse of the bailout plan in Washington was particularly harmful to apparel and retail stocks as fears over the economic turmoil turned to concern over how dramatic drops in consumer confidence will impact holiday spending. On the bright side  “It definitely will impact the spending habits of an aspirational consumer, and by that I mean someone who will buy at an opening price point of a luxury brand to be in it” says Jeffry Aronsson. Though its clearly already impacting the cheap chic shoppers as H&M had a disappointing 3rd quarter. But so far the truly expensive is still doing quite well as Balenciaga is having a banner year with nearly every runway garment they have sold out in pre-sales. Let's hope that Balenciaga CEO Isabelle Guichot doesn't get caught up on Gucci Group's notorious politics shall we? And if worse comes to worse there is still plenty of money in the Middle East, just ask Lanvin who is in talks with a Qatar based investor. This must be our addiction to romance that is making all this happen right?

Christie's has unveiled the highlights of the forthcoming Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Berge art sale which has some 700 pieces on offer estimated to fetch up to $440 million.

Someone started a shoe only channel called Shoetube.tv. Really we aren't lying.

And the one piece of good news we could find this morning? Our beloved Adam Lippes is opening a pop up store in our favorite underated American city of Buffalo.
