>> Soon after Maybelline announced it would be be taking over from five-year Bryant Park cosmetics sponsor MAC, MAC — presumedly, as New York Times' Eric Wilson put it, tired of having to share "a rather circuslike stage with other sponsors who were competing for attention, sometimes including makers of doughnuts, cameras, toilets and Big Macs" — announced that it would be producing the tentatively-titled MAC and Milk Fashion Week with Milk Studios at the same time as the traditional New York Fashion Week.
The event can be seen as either a complement or a competitor to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, but on the record, anyway, there seem to be no hard feelings. Milk Studios founder Mazdack Rassi says of the initiative: "This week is not an alternative show space, it's a way of cultivating designers and helping them come up with new ways of selling their clothes." And Zach Eichman, a VP of IMG Fashion, which produces the shows at Bryant Park, told the New York Times last week the company welcomed the MAC and Milk event and that bus service between shows would be available when possible. “We can’t do every show in the tents. We hope they will be successful.”
Trend Alert: Rad Black Ruching
What's rad? Ruching, that's what. It's an ancient sewing technique, and it's flattering powers are undeniable. Especially when it comes to a sexy, hot LBD with rad black ruching. If you don't already have one of these quick fix, every-occasion frocks, I suggest you consider. Look at how stunning Emmy Rossum looks in her architectural Emanuel Ungaro; she doesn't show a lot of skin, but it's somehow seriously sexy. OK, her black gladiator Stuart Weitzman sandals may have something to do with it too . . .
Celeb Style: Khloe Kardashian

Celebrity Style: Miranda Kerr
Hot duo Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr stepped out looking mighty fine last night at an Audi celebration in Beverly Hills. While you enjoy the eye candy, let's dissect Miranda's pretty in pale ensemble. Playing with proportions, the Victoria's Secret model wore a bandage skirt paired with a draped top — all by Stella McCartney. A white blazer adds a crisp touch while patent Christian Louboutin pumps and a Prada lace bowler inject sass. Too cute.

In The Showroom: Adam Fall 2009
New York designer Adam Lippes showed his Fall 2009 collection in the tents at Bryant Park this season, and sent a array of young, enthusiastic, Asian-inspired looks down the runway. We caught a glimpse of his collection at the Paul Wilmot Communications press preview last week, and although our little camera never captures the real-life quality of these designs, we couldn't resist a shoutout. Not shown on the runway were 1st delivery multi-colored Georgette silk pieces that should definitely fare well while the leaves are turning. Check out our snapshot of that print along with a few others in the gallery below.
Adam For Mango Presentation & Look Book
American designer Adam Lippes teamed up with Spanish retailer, Mango, to put out a Spring range of sporty, casual looks poised to hit shelves on March 1st. Yesterday, we checked out the Adam For Mango collection at a presentation on the roof deck of the Gramercy Hotel. For starters we can say that on a quality scale this collaboration ranks high; the fabrics were amazing to the touch and no seam was unfinished nor garment unlined. Otherwise, the collection satisfies both Adam's signature aesthetic--a sporty, sophisticated look--and the broader trends of the season. Check out our snapshots from the presentation and the full look book below.
Celebrity Style: Kerry Washington
Kerry Washington looked spectacular yesterday at Essence magazine's luncheon in Beverly Hills. Always one to try new things, Kerry wore a smashing feathered skirt and blazer by Louis Vuitton. Feathery skirts can add a little volume so it was smart to cinch in her waistline with an eye-popping metallic obi belt. Patent leopard pumps, a black clutch, gold macho watch, and sophisticated gold hoops complete her tigress appeal; now that's style!
