Last night's 2012 CFDA Awards in NYC brought out huge fashion names like Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Carine Roitfeld, Anna Wintour, and a gaggle of designers and top models. If you haven't done so yet, be sure to check in with FabSugar to see who wore what. Here at CS we're focusing on the most standout accessories from the night. Think Solange Knowles's Missoni sandals, Ally Hilfiger's gold Pamela Love cuff, Busy Philipps's turquoise Irene Neuwirth earrings, and way more. See and shop them all now!
>> Just as Whitney Port announced today that The City is kaput, another former MTV star — who also happens to be Tommy Hilfiger's daughter — revealed that she's getting into the design business. Hilfiger, who has styled Nary Manivong's collection for the past two seasons, is teaming up with the designer to create a brand-new line, Nahm. “It’s all shirtdresses of different fabrics, lengths and cuts,” said Hilfiger, who plans to introduce the line for Fall 2011 and manufacture it entirely in New York. >> Ally Hilfiger Makes Foray into Styling; Tommy Hilfiger Reportedly Denies The Strokes Plus-Ones at After Party —The Strokes' friend group includes Kirsten Dunst, Drew Barrymore, and Agyness Deyn, but we hear Tommy Hilfiger has nixed the band's request to bring friends to the label's 25th anniversary after-party on Sept. 12, which they'll be playing. Instead, the New York band will perform at the Metropolitan Opera House to a packed fashion crowd — maybe Agyness gets a pass? — including Tommy's daughter Ally Hilfiger, who has a new project of her own: She's styling the Nary Manivong show on Friday, Sept. 10.
Fab's a huge advocate of the ever-so-calculated disheveled chic look. While some scoff at the layers and mismatched pieces, we revel in them. We love how Ally Hilfiger created her own messy masterpiece with a striped shirt dress, trench, tights, and platform pumps. Hone in on her striped frock: not only do the vertical lines add length, they also evoke a posh, preppy feel — even when wrinkled.
>> For the second year running, the Whitney Art Musem Gala was Donatella Versace's party. Editors — Olivier Zahm, Lauren Santo Domingo, Glenda Bailey — commingled with designers — Peter Som, Moises de la Renta, Ruffian's Claude Morais and Brian Wolk — and a smattering of models like Chanel Iman and Hana Soukupova. Christopher Kane's Versus designs even made an appearance — the Fall 2009 crystal shoes were on Byrdie Bell's feet, and Taylor Momsen — who seems to be close with the Versaces, particularly Allegra, changed into a black Spring 2010 Versus frock for the Studio Party post-Gala Dinner.
Donatella was fashionably late to the party — two hours in, she was nowhere to be found; perhaps she was still upstairs tending to VIPs — as was Lindsay Lohan, who swept in, all blonde hair and gold dress — earning comparisons to Donatella's trademark look. Lohan said she came "for Donatella" before beelining to Brian Atwood for a chat. Keeping with the "art chic" theme, the walls of one whole room at the party downstairs was covered in paper for guests to scribble on.
Peel your eyes away from Ally Hilfiger's sweet face for a moment and focus on her dope tribal jewelry. These carefree baubles and beads give off a wild, sexy appeal. Check it: Ally's printed top is cute, but her layered tribal necklaces give her ensemble that extra oomph.
These affordable adornments come in a wide range of styles so have fun and get creative. Personally, I like to wear my native jewels with a simple tee, denim shorts, and platform sandals for maximum, bohemian appeal. How will you wear yours?
Ally Hilfiger was looking free spirited and glamorous in a simple purple Chloe tank dress at a Jade Jagger-hosted launch party last night. She made the piece very much her own with layered hippie necklaces, sky-high gold gladiators, and a contrasting burgundy clutch. She works the jewel tone perfectly with her raven black hair and sun-kissed skin. Back to bohemia!
