Leave it to an Olsen to Make Neutrals and Anklets Look Damn Chic

It's a rare occurrence when we spot Ashley Olsen out at an event, but lucky for us, the designer made an appearance at a Santa Monica art gallery last night.

It's a rare occurrence when we spot Ashley Olsen out at an event, but lucky for us, the designer made an appearance at a Santa Monica art gallery last night. Though many young stars wouldn't be able to pull off such a mature look, Ashley did it flawlessly. She started with a basic black wool turtleneck and black leather pants. Then here's where the look started to go damn chic. She topped her ensemble with a camel coat by The Row and a beige scarf, which she left draped over her shoulders. Finally, a pair of ladylike slingback pointy pumps and two matching gold anklets completed Ashley's sophisticated and minimalist look. If you're feeling neutrals, this outfit would be totally appropriate at the office. Then with a quick switch of outerwear and heels, you can wear it on a chilly weekend too. Shop Ashley's exact coat, as well as a few similar pieces below.

>> For Spring 2012, designer Lisa Salzer culled inspiration from a childhood spent on sunny Montauk beaches and the 1960s surf-travel movie Endless Summer. These influences were evident not only in the way the collection was presented — retro-suited models lounged amongst surf boards and driftwood strewn with exotic flowers — but in the materials used in the jewelry as well: rough-cut stones, oversized pearls, and burnished metal. Amongst the glittering layers of statement necklaces, vintage-tinged cuffs, and mixed-media earrings was another accessory of note — one that's been popping up somewhat regularly elsewhere as of late: anklets. Here, they were plentiful and plenty intriguing — undulating leaf-chains crawled up the leg, while rock-adorned styles draped to the toe.
