Estée Lauder Launches a New Scent After a Decade

Fifty years after the arrival of the original Estée Lauder scent, Youth Dew, the brand is launching a new note in fragrance.

Fifty years after the arrival of the original Estée Lauder scent, Youth Dew, the brand is launching a new note in fragrance. Already a powerhouse in the beauty industry, the iconic company has been surprisingly absent from the fragrance arena in the last decade. Its last scent, Beyond Paradise, was released back in 2003. So, the arrival of Modern Muse this September is right on time. "This is the most important fragrance moment we've had in a decade," Jane Hertzmark Hudis, global president of the Estée Lauder brand, told WWD. "Modern Muse captures what it means today to be independent and confident in one's own sense of self and style."

The scent is a mix of jasmine and woodsy notes with lavender, lily, patchouli, and vanilla. It seems a coincidence that its spokeswoman for the campaign is Arizona Muse, who inked a deal with the brand last Spring. You'll notice Arizona wears a multitude of bows in the print and television spots (and there is one on the Modern Muse bottle itself). The bows actually honor the nine muses exalted by ancient Greek artists and philosophers. Arizona Muse plus the mythological muses yield one inspired perfume.

Miu Miu brings its Spring 2013 campaign to life with a series of videos, each of which stars a different model. Martha Hunt, Arizona Muse, Tamara Weijenberg, Malgosia Bela, Doutzen Kroes, Adriana Lima, and Bette Franke each take turns capturing the brooding, mischievous, and almost sinister undertones of Miu Miu's print campaign — and each leave the viewer wondering if perhaps there isn't something more to the brand's Spring 2013 collection than just the gorgeous clothing. A look at each of the spooky shorts below.

Exclusive First Look: Arizona Muse Stars in Nina Ricci's Spring 2013 Campaign

Talk about romantic gestures.

Talk about romantic gestures. In Nina Ricci's Spring 2013 campaign, Arizona Muse is captured in a whirlwind of what appear to be flower petals.

Closer inspection reveals the petals in Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin's photos are actually small disks of pink paper fluttering to the ground. Art directed by stylist Alex White and Malin Ericson, the ads call to mind the swirl of flower petals that fell from the ceiling at Peter Copping's Spring 2013 show for the brand last September.

An exclusive first look at the campaign here in the gallery.

All the Best Shots From This Weekend's Winter Chic Fest in Switzerland

Arizona Muse, Carey Mulligan, Poppy Delevingne, Teresa Missoni, and Waris Ahluwalia were among those who made the trek to Switzerland this past weekend for ASMALLWORLD's third annual Winter Weekend getaway.

Arizona Muse, Carey Mulligan, Poppy Delevingne, Teresa Missoni, and Waris Ahluwalia were among those who made the trek to Switzerland this past weekend for ASMALLWORLD's third annual Winter Weekend getaway. And though it may have been frosty on the slopes outside the Gstaad Palace Hotel where the weekend's festivities took place, there was plenty on the docket to keep guests toasty.

On Friday evening, the crowd kicked off the fun with a champagne cocktail and diamond hunt. The big winner of the evening was Tali Lennox, who, clad in a two-toned leopard-print minidress, ended up winning the grand prize: a glittering pair of Bucherer diamond hoops. The next day it was off to the lifts, where Jessica Joffe and Lily Kwong showed off their best cold-weather getups (no puffy snowsuits here) while Muse frolicked with son Nikko in the snow before joining the rest of the crew for a fondue feast.

And that wasn't all. Saturday evening's black-tie charity gala hosted by Mulligan had everyone from Harley Viera-Newton to Harvey Weinstein in high spirits — especially when singer Alysha Umphress took to the stage for a surprise performance.

Highlights from the weekend, here in the slideshow.

Arizona Muse's Louis Vuitton Art of Travel Campaign

The short film and ad images for Louis Vuitton's new travel-themed campaign have finally made their way online. Arizona Muse stars in the Inez and Vinoodh-shot images, which carry Vuitton's Art of Travel concept to print, digital, and film.

In the film — titled L'invitation au Voyage, or Invitation to Travel — Muse is seen walking through the Louvre with a golden key and Vuitton's Speedy Monogram Empreinte bag. After passing by the Mona Lisa and halls filled with priceless Italian art, Muse finds a vintage Vuitton trunk and unlocks it to reveal an envelope. When she realizes there's a man following her through the museum, she runs through its courtyard and jumps into a hot air balloon, taking whatever secrets the envelope contains along with her.

A look at Muse's short film below, and images from the campaign here in the gallery.

Arizona Muse Supports Saint Laurent Name Change

Arizona Muse has added her voice to the chorus of people who support changing the name of Yves Saint Laurent to Saint Laurent Paris.

Arizona Muse has added her voice to the chorus of people who support changing the name of Yves Saint Laurent to Saint Laurent Paris.

"People who aren't in the fashion world might not know that a new designer has joined the brand, so this is a clear way of signifying that there's been a big change," Muse said in an interview. "It's the sort of thing everyone will notice, not just fashion people."

Karl Lagerfeld has also thrown his support behind the change, saying, "Paris needs some new things, some stimulation . . . I think it's interesting and it's important. Something fresh was needed."

And while other industry giants like Pierre Bergé and Betty Catroux have also backed the shift, reaction among the public has been mixed. When Saint Laurent Paris unveiled the new logo on its Facebook page this week, one fan of the brand decried it as "an act of disrespect."

Hedi Slimane, who was appointed the brand's creative director in March, announced the change in June, emphasizing that the iconic YSL logo will be preserved for use on some products. The new name should be fully integrated into the company's brand messaging by September, when Slimane stages his first show for Saint Laurent Paris.
