Want the latest It bag, but don't want to spend two months of rent to get it? Join the club. No, literally, join the club. Bag Borrow or Steal brings you the latest and greatest from dozens of designers — we're talking Chloé, we're talking Tory, we're talking Kate — all at a (designer) wallet-friendly price. And, yes, you can rent those, too. Started with the notion that every woman deserves access to fabulous fashion accessories, Bag Borrow or Steal provides what was once only accessible to the fashion elite to the masses. Get started with our exclusive introductory offer in which $20 earns you 40 percent off your first purchase. Go ahead, indulge in that Hermès Birkin — we won't tell anyone it's on loan.
Bag Borrow or Steal fans, from now on you must refer to the site as Avelle. The four-year-old retailer has changed its name. The firm's executives believe the new moniker is more luxurious and European-sounding. Indeed. It makes sense considering the company has plans on expanding into Kuwait and China.
The most exciting part of Avelle.com is that it will be expanding into additional categories like watches and apparel starting this month. I can't wait. Shoes may also be on the horizon, but that would be difficult given sizing issues and wear and tear.
The sun may still be shining bright in your neck of the woods, but soon Fall will be upon us, bringing with it crunchy leaves and gusty winds. With the notion of seasonless dressing becoming more of a reality, investing in Fall pieces now is not such a bad idea. That way you can use now and later. A slew of online retailers have started thinking ahead by stocking Autumn goodies now, like this Pollini Cutout Ankle Bootie ($695). Get ahead while you can.
- Shopbop — Great for boots and leather jackets.
- Bluefly — Fall preview dresses and cashmere sweaters.
- Urban Outfitters — Look for dark-hued floral dresses, sheer tights, cardigans.
- Oak NYC — fashion-forward hoodie tanks, knot necklaces, and colorful fringed scarves.
- Ami Ami — Good for sweaters and leather.

Did you know that Bag Borrow or Steal is making a cameo (at the vall party . . . ) in the Sex and the City movie? Luckies. Clearly they're excited because they've dedicated a whole section to the fabulous foursome. Start by taking a purse-onality quiz then browse designer bags by your favorite character. I'm partial to the Carrie section and have my eyes peeled on this Vintage Hermes Midnight Blue Birkin Bag ($816-$850/week). Which section rocks your world?
Do celebrities think they're the only ones who can borrow jewels? Pshaw! With Bag Borrow or Steal's wedding shop, you can wear breathtaking bling for your nuptials without having to up your budget. Among the gorgeous goodies on loan are clutches by Judith Leiber and Badgley Mischka and jewels by Vera Wang, Gucci, and more.
Personally, when I get married, given the shop still exists, I would love to steal — I mean borrow — Vera Wang's Victorian Bow Necklace ($50/week). If you don't have an account, sign up now, as the merchandise is cheaper for members. And if you're not getting hitched anytime soon, heck, borrow away anyway, because life's too short to not wear fabulous accessories. I know Rachel Zoe would agree.
