2013 Golden Globe Awards: Best Dressed

We're not exaggerating when we say the Golden Globe Awards delivered glamour of epic proportions.

We're not exaggerating when we say the Golden Globe Awards delivered glamour of epic proportions. We were treated to red-carpet confections adorned in embellishments, silhouettes given the sexier treatment with skin-baring cutouts (we're looking at you, Emily Blunt), and brilliant washes of red-hot color. Narrowing down the standouts in this style crowd wasn't easy, but we're taking a minute to highlight the best of the best right here. Both Emily and Jennifer Lawrence gave us just what we wanted (literally!), arriving in the gowns we had hoped they'd choose for tonight's big event. Emily wowed in a curve-conscious, gold cutout Michael Kors gown, while Jennifer took home the prize for best actress in a musical or comedy and looked every bit the part in her fiery red Dior. Kate Hudson may have just made her sexiest appearance to date in a dramatic black Alexander McQueen confection, complete with an embellished neckline and keyhole cutout. We gushed over Kerry Washington's glowing arrival in a glittering Miu Miu gown, and Claire Danes had her own Hollywood bombshell moment in a perfectly draped, bright red Versace number. Now comes the hard part: it's time to cast your vote. Which gorgeous Globes attendee is your best-dressed winner?

Golden Globes 2013: The Very Best Looks From the Red Carpet

Last season's runway rivalry didn't quite reprise itself on Sunday's Golden Globes red carpet — but almost.
Golden Globes 2013 Red Carpet Fashion | Pictures

Last season's runway rivalry didn't quite reprise itself on Sunday's Golden Globes red carpet — but almost. Hedi Slimane's new vision for Saint Laurent found a muse in Rosie Huntington-Whiteley; the model-actress (and her Angelina-esque right leg) looked divine in Spring 2013's gauzy, bow-necked halter gown. Meanwhile, Raf Simons's modern Christian Dior was out in full force on not one but two lovely leading ladies. Jennifer Lawrence — who took home the Globe for her work in Silver Linings Playbook — made a strong case for minimalism in the label's Fall 2012 crimson Couture ballgown, while Marion Cotillard was a vision of modern-day sweetness in a custom asymmetrical strapless shift.

But Slimane and Simons weren't the only big-name designers who made an impact on the red carpet. Zac Posen was well-represented; not only did the designer dress Naomi Watts in a gorgeous merlot gown from his Pre-Fall 2013 collection, but he also dressed the night's big winner Lena Dunham in a raisin-hued gown complete with Posen's signature body-flattering seaming. Oscar de la Renta, too, had a strong showing. Jessica Alba looked dreamy in the designer's Pre-Fall 2013 sherbet-colored trumpet dress, while Zooey Deschanel glowed in a vivid red strapless number.

Click through to see all those — plus Jessica Chastain's seafoam Calvin Klein, Kathryn Bigelow's embellished Prada, Sienna Miller's pale pink Erdem, and more — right here in our roundup of the very best looks from 2013 Golden Globes night.

This Week's Best Dressed

Award season is officially here, and some of this week's best looks were real trophy winners.
Best-Dressed Celebrities and Models | Jan. 11, 2013

Award season is officially here, and some of this week's best looks were real trophy winners. The metallic Oscar de la Renta dress Anne Hathaway wore when she ascended the steps to accept her Critics' Choice Award for Les Misérables made her look like nothing so much as a golden statuette, and the gold and black Alexander McQueen dress Naomi Watts wore to the People's Choice Awards the night before had a similar effect.

But not all of this week's looks involved sequins. From the WWD CEO Summit in New York to the launch of Paula Gerbase's new label in London to a major photo opp with the stars of The Face, see who made this week's best dressed — and what they wore — here in the gallery.

Celebrities brought their fashion A-game to the Critics' Choice Awards, showing us nothing short of exquisite looks.

Celebrities brought their fashion A-game to the Critics' Choice Awards, showing us nothing short of exquisite looks. Embellished gowns raised the style bar, whereas daring cutouts injected a sexy turn on the red carpet, black gowns received a modern revamp, and the uncommon shorter silhouettes caught our undivided attention. Five leading ladies stole the spotlight tonight: Nina Dobrev stunned in an embellished teal-hued Monique Lhuillier minidress, Jennifer Lawrence took our breath away in a black cutout gown with leather detailing from Prabal Gurung, and French beauty Marion Cotillard showed off that perfect je ne sais quoi in a fit-and-flare Zuhair Murad featuring pretty floral appliqués. But there's more: Amy Adams showed off a two-toned gown by Vionnet, while Naomi Watts showed off her unstoppable style in a black strapless gown Emilio Pucci gown featuring a sexy, sheer cutout bodice. Now we want you to weigh in — which red-carpet beauty gets your best-dressed vote?

Last night's People's Choice Awards marked the beginning of award season, and we were more than a little excited to pore over all of the gorgeous red-carpet looks. We were treated to a few minidress moments, sexy gowns, and lots of bold color, but there were five looks in particular that caught our discerning eye. Favorite comedic movie actress winner Jennifer Aniston wooed us in a black fit-and-flare leather dress by Christian Dior, Naomi Watts dazzled in a stunning black and gold gown by Alexander McQueen, and Taylor Swift switched up her style game in a plunging V-neck white gown by Ralph Lauren finished off with blue statement danglers. Chloë Moretz showed off her spunk in a neon yellow dress — covered with sweet, semisheer daisies — by Simone Rocha, while Ellen Pompeo opted for a cream-colored draped Lanvin maxi dress finished off with a bold belt. Five lovely ladies in five equally beautiful red-carpet ensembles — which one gets your best-dressed vote?

After the burst of evening dressing around the holidays, it was refreshing to see a focus on daywear this week.
Best-Dressed Celebrities and Models | Jan. 4, 2013

After the burst of evening dressing around the holidays, it was refreshing to see a focus on daywear this week. Miranda Kerr, for example, was spotted at a Whole Foods in Los Angeles wearing Stella McCartney, while Chloë Sevigny did a little shopping in New York in a statement-making olive-green overcoat.

Still, it's nice to see that people haven't tired of dressing up entirely. Kerry Washington wore a dress from Peter Pilotto's Spring 2013 collection to the premiere of Django Unchained, and sisters Theodora and Alexandra Richards gussied up for the Black and White Masquerade Ball in New York.

Positively iconic. Those are the words that came to mind when Diane Kruger peeked over her shoulder wearing a pale blue Giambattista Valli Couture dress at this year's Cannes Film Festival. They popped up again when Erin O'Connor mounted the steps at the Investec Derby in Epsom, England, wearing a floral hat by Louis Mariette, and yet again when Rooney Mara donned a black Nina Ricci gown at the Golden Globes.

This year's greatest looks are memorable not only because they belong to high-end labels, but also because of how stunning their wearers were in them. Get a look at the best-dressed women of the year, here in the gallery.

What's the holiday season without a little glamour?
Best-Dressed Fashion and Models | Week of Dec. 17, 2012

What's the holiday season without a little glamour? At this week's flurry of parties and events, there was plenty of it. ASMALLWORLD's Winter Weekend getaway in Gstaad, Switzerland, saw the style set — including Carey Mulligan, Poppy Delevingne, Tali Lennox, and Arizona Muse — in a dazzling array of adornment; embroidery, rhinestones, sequins, and lace were all well-represented. At Love's Christmas party in London, editor at large Lulu Kennedy sparkled in an unorthodox iridescent skirt paired with a very classic top: a '90s-era Nirvana smiley-face t-shirt. And even Brad Goreski didn't shy from glitz: at the Miss Universe Pageant in Las Vegas, the bespectacled reality-TV fashion star shone in a lurex sports coat by Dsquared2.

All of those looks and more are right here in our weekly best-dressed roundup.
