>> Colorful abstract tribal prints, raffia, wooden beads, and crochet detailing populate Burberry's Resort 2012 collection — alongside the requisite handful of trenchcoats, of course. “With our iconic heritage as the foundation, we really wanted to emphasize this feeling of artisanal and decorative pieces that had been touched by hand, celebrating craftsmanship but always with a playful element,” Christopher Bailey explained of the collection's inspiration.
Flashback — Kate Moss Plays Bride for Burberry's Spring 2000 Ad Campaign
>> Since we're doing Kate Moss wedding-related flashbacks — and Mario Testino is set to be Moss and fiance Jamie Hince's official wedding photographer — we wanted to share: Testino has actually captured Moss as bride once before, for the Burberry Spring 2000 ad campaign. Perhaps they provide a preview at what Moss's actual wedding pictures will turn out like (minus all the Burberry check, of course)?

The Royal Wedding Arrivals Have Started!
>> A little over an hour and we might get a first glimpse at Kate Middleton's wedding gown, but in the meantime, the guest arrivals have started. Among them so far: David Beckham in Ralph Lauren Purple Label (and top hat!) and a pregnant Victoria Beckham in a midnight blue dress of her own design with a Philip Treacy hat — speaking of, Treacy is outfitting 36 guests in total; official engagement portrait photographer Mario Testino — who reportedly had his camera confiscated; and Prince Harry's on/off girlfriend Chelsy Davy in a boatnecked emerald Alberta Ferretti dress. Expect to see lots of hats, fascinators and dresses with sleeves — exposing shoulders and heads in a sacred house of worship like Westminster Abbey, where the wedding ceremony is taking place, is considered improper.
The gallery will be updated as photos come in.
Pregnant Style: Jessica Alba
Jessica Alba sported a rock-chic look at Maria Menounos's book launch celebration in LA. Jessica mixed an animal print LAMB maxi and cropped Burberry vest, while toting a quilted Christian Dior bag. She wore a silver bib necklace and we finished off her look with metallic gladiators and onyx studs. Shop now to get her exact vest and bag with other similar items.
Watch Highlights From Burberry's Visual Effect-Heavy Beijing Show, in Which Models Appear to Disappear
>> In the past week alone, three brands have held shows in China — Valentino and Marc by Marc Jacobs in Hong Kong and Burberry in Beijing — but Burberry's was hardly a straightforward runway show.
For its first event in China in 10 years (and in celebration of a new Beijing flagship), Burberry gathered more than 1,000 guests in front of the massive stage at Beijing Television Center last night to showcase its Fall 2011 collection. Virtual image technologies — holograms, projections, and animations — were used on the runway, creating the illusion of models disappearing, switching looks, or transforming into snow clouds as they walked by one another. Some models were even joined by holograms of themselves.
Christopher Bailey, a heavy proponent of pushing the envelope with technology, said yesterday morning: “I love the vehicle of technology. I love using it as a platform in which to communicate the ideas, the attitude, the spirit of the company. Sometimes as an industry, perhaps we think it is not a legitimate channel in which to speak to people. I just don’t really agree with it. Fashion is supposed to be about making things relevant. Yes, it is luxury. Yes, it is aspiration. Yes, it is supposed to be inspiring. But I think there is nothing more inspiring than talking digitally, because you can get attitude, you can get music, you can get sound, you can get video and movement. You can actually articulate so much of your brand using this medium.”
Highlights from the show in the video above.
