A Look Inside Assouline’s Upcoming American Fashion Designers at Home Book

>> The CFDA has more than member designers' mushroom truffle spaghetti recipes to share.

>> The CFDA has more than member designers' mushroom truffle spaghetti recipes to share. Come Sept. 7, American Fashion Designers at Home compiles peeks into the homes of a number of the CFDA's 115 members — including Tory Burch, Francisco Costa, Oscar de la Renta, Johnson Hartig, and Donna Karan, whose homes are all previewed in the gallery below. “This is the ultimate voyeuristic journey,” says the book’s author, Rima Suqi. Most of the images have been published before, but some of the art is brand new, including one of Band of Outsiders designer Scott Sternberg’s trademark Polaroids — this time featuring stacks of books and Troll dolls in his living room.

Harper's Bazaar

The Bazaar, which kicks off with a cocktail party Sept. 13 and will be open to Fashion Week attendees for the next two days, will feature the Spring 2011 collections of 18 jewelers, milliners, footwear, handbag and small leather goods designers, among them Alexis Bittar, Philip Crangi, Albertus Swanepoel, Alejandro Ingelmo, Fenton/Fallon's Dana Lorenz, Pamela Love and Dean Harris, in a gallery-like setting (rendering, above left).

In the past, the Gap partnership has seen collaborations with Fashion Fund finalists like Alexander Wang, Rodarte, and Sophie Theallet — housed under Gap Design Editions — grace Gap stores since as far back as 2007, but it looks like this year J.Crew — which recently tried out a designer collaboration with Fenton/Fallon's Dana Lorenz — may be the go-to retail point for this year's designer finalists. CFDA Could Be Getting Its Bill Protecting Fashion Design, After All

>> When Diane von Furstenberg was reelected president of the CFDA earlier this year, the one goal she specified she had for the organization was: "We’d like to pass the law against counterfeits and copying."A bill that came to the House of Representives last year died after clothing manufacturers argued that protection against knockoffs would only encourage litigiousness — people arguing over who had the idea first.

A bill that came to the House of Representives last year died after clothing manufacturers argued that protection against knockoffs would only encourage litigiousness — people arguing over who had the idea first. Yesterday, Senator Charles Schumer introduced a new bill, supported by both the CFDA and the American Apparel & Footwear Assocation (the latter had argued that the House bill would expose its members to lawsuits).

Gilt to Host CFDA Swarovski Award Collection Sale

It's going to be the most talked about event: Swarovski and Gilt Groupe have joined fashion forces to host the sale of the CFDA Swarovski Award collection. The sale hits Gilt tomorrow at noon EST and will carry one-of-a-kind Swarovski-encrusted creations by contenders — such as Joseph Altuzarra, Alexander Wang, and Jason Wu — for the Swarovski Awards. "To inspire the design process, each nominee was provided with an all access pass to the Swarovski Creative Service Center," said Nadja Swarovski of Swarovski. "But at the end of the day it was all about the work of the designer — we are just the sparkling ingredient to enhance and push the boundaries of their creativity." That said, we can't stop ogling Wang's pimped-out Rocco duffel bag. Check out the rest of the designs.

The CFDA Attending Models and Their Designer Pals

The CFDA Awards is one of my favorite fashion events.
Pictures of Models at the 2010 CFDA Awards

The CFDA Awards is one of my favorite fashion events. Not only do classic and new designers receive awards, but it also brings fashion folk together and honors fashion as a whole. We showed you some fashion-focused arrivals last night before the event, but there were so many other stylish attendees. Actresses, editors, and models showed their support . . . and fun Polaroids captured some epic shots. Flip through to admire your favorite models and their designer pals from last night.

And the CFDA Awards Go To . . .

Last night's CFDA Awards brought out a gaggle of impeccably dressed stars to Lincoln Center in NYC — Sarah Jessica Parker in McQueen, who gave a speech for the late designer, Alexa Chung in Marc Jacobs, and Gwyneth Paltrow in Michael Kors, to name a few.

But besides the fashion, the much-anticipated awards were handed out to this year's lucky nominees. Without further ado: Marc Jacobs won for Womenswear Designer of the Year, Menswear Designer of the Year went to Rag & Bone, and Fab favorite Alexis Bittar scored Accessory Designer of the Year. Congrats!

InStyle magazine and the CFDA hosted a dinner in Los Angeles Wednesday night where superstar stylist Rachel Zoe revealed she has designed a pair of over-the-knee platform boots for Brian Atwood's namesake brand. The black suede boot with chain detail will cost $2,915 and appear in stores this month. "I own every shoe Brian has ever made," said Zoe, who happily shared the pair had been friends for fifteen years and first met while dancing on tables in Paris.

Also on tap for Atwood: a footwear collaboration with Victoria Beckham and new category expansions. Without divulging details Wednesday night, Brian Atwood did make it clear he was thinking big: “Ralph Lauren started in ties and look what he has become."
