This season, there's a new jacket style in town, the cape coat! Not only is this jacket silhouette easy to wear, it's a fantastic layering piece that will spice up your Winter wardrobe in a pinch. For a timeless version that will never go out of style, choose a cape in a solid hue, like black. Or, stay on this season by injecting a dose of burnt orange via a sleek and streamlined version. Work Selena Gomez's Neon-Green Tank and Retro Shades at the Beach
Selena Gomez was all smiles frolicking on Malibu beach in a neon green Wildfox tank ($69), short denim shorts, and these celebrity-favorite Westward Leaning shades ($275) while celebrating Ashley Tisdale's 27th birthday. Although the sun was shining, Selena layered a fringed cardigan by Line over her Summer staples to fight the breeze, and piled on a few necklaces to liven up her party style. Re-create this beachy look by pairing Selena's exact tank and shades with creme denim shorts or switch the shorts for black skinny jeans and sandals for a bonfire later.

Victoria Beckham Goes Posh in a Cape Coat at the Airport
Victoria Beckham took airport chic to a whole new level in a stylish cape coat. The ever-fashionable designer selected a figure-hugging trench with a cool cape in back that's easy but still really polished. She added on some sky-high platform suede booties, a large gold watch, and brown oversized sunglasses. Watch today's Fab Flash to hear more. On Allison McNamara: Topshop jacket, Tiger Lily necklace.
5 Cool Ways to Wear a Cape
The ultimate in ladylike refinement (and warmth), capes are shaping up to be the season's coolest coverup. We saw gorgeous capes on the Fall runways from designers like Lanvin, Alexander Wang, and Burberry, and though it can be a tricky piece to wear, the new cape is more modern glamour girl and less stylish superhero — think '50s-era starlets like Tippi Hedren, Grace Kelly, and Audrey Hepburn. Whether you want to channel a retro vibe or prefer to add some edge, there is definitely more than one way to make it look chic. Click through to see five ways to style up a cape for Fall.
Look We Love – Caped Cutie

'Tis the season to cape it, and we love how Annabel Ly worked it in her tweed version complete with black tights, combat booties, Lanvin for H&M sunnies, and Fjällräven backpack. The ideal Winter ensemble whether you're a budding college student or street trekking worker bee. Master with same look with similar picks from Marc by Marc Jacobs, McQ, French Connection, and Madewell.

Our top four picks highlight textures and prints, from an abstract art print version from Lindsey Thornburg to a classic check and leather-trimmed creation from Cooper & Stollbrand for Asos.

Look of the Day: Great Escape
One of my favorite Fall trends has to be the cozy cape. Besides being unbelievably comfortable, you can throw one on without having to put much effort into the rest of your outfit — and on a chilly morning, who doesn't love that? Fab reader MissBehave let her colorful ASOS cape be the star of the show by styling it with dark jeans and gray wedges. Her simple-yet-chic ensemble is a great escape from the cold!
Congrats to MissBehave!
