Style For Style: Fly the Fab Skies

Want to look as cool and collected as Charlize while jetsetting? Pay attention.

Whether you vacation in the Summer or Winter (moi), as relaxing as a vacation can be, sometimes getting to and from is not so. I wouldn't call myself extremely well-traveled but my passport is pretty colorful. I have some tips when it comes to packing and making the airport trek as smooth sailing as possible. But before I divulge, remember: travel is stressful but what awaits on the other end is bliss. So sit back, remember to breathe and enjoy the ride.

Diane von Furstenberg delivers us many wise words and on the topic of packing, here are some, "I think if you've figured out how to pack, you've figured out your life." So don't fret my friends, mastering the art of packing is a life long task.

Packing 101

  • Maintain a coordinated color palette. That doesn’t mean it has to be boring! Red, purple, black and dark denim is a modern and interesting combination. As for the tropics, how does yellow, purple, white and gold sound? Fabulous.
  • Consider dresses, lots of dresses. Here is an item that’s easy to throw on and is an outfit in itself.
  • Keep shoes neutral; black, brown, metallic and white shoes/sandals. This will make things less stressful when trying to color coordinate outfits and accessories.

Celebrity Style: Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon ditched her usually classic ensembles for something a bit more multifaceted, and I'm proud of her for expanding her horizons.

Reese Witherspoon ditched her usually classic ensembles for something a bit more multifaceted, and I'm proud of her for expanding her horizons. While out and about with boyfriend Jake, the actress wore an airy black jersey dress, a cropped red cardigan, and accessorized with studded Tod's sandals and a woven Bottega bag. It seems more and more actresses are bringing the fedora back. Since it took a long, much-needed break, a comeback was in order.

Whitley Kros Navy and Creme Cardigan: Love It or Hate It?

I knew this cardigan looked familiar when I saw it!

I knew this cardigan looked familiar when I saw it! When I interviewed Whitley Kros co-founder Sophia Banks at LA Fashion Week in October, she was wearing something similar to this Whitley Kros Navy and Creme Cardigan ($286). I love stripes so this would be great for a casual day of running errands. Do you love it or hate it?

Spending time in NYC has made Vanessa Minnillo more polished. Here she is leaving Pastis restaurant in a menswear-inspired look and a Marc Jacobs Stam bag; it's nice to see that she's carrying this purse even though it's no longer an "It" item. Throw in some diamond stud earrings and you have an androgynous, refined look.

Trend Alert: Cutton as a Button Cardigans

When in doubt, grab a cardi.

When in doubt, grab a cardi. How many cardigans do I have? Let me count the ways. Maybe about eight? But the thing is, they're all different and I wear them all. Layer them in the Winter, use them as a cute cover up in the Summer. They work for the seasons between, too. Keep an eye out for cutton as a button cardigans and good luck, because they're hard to resist.

Who Wore It Better? Juicy Couture Striped Cardigan

Never in a million years did I think I'd be comparing Fab favorite Cameron Diaz and trainwreck Britney Spears.

Never in a million years did I think I'd be comparing Fab favorite Cameron Diaz and trainwreck Britney Spears. If anything, it's a sign that Britney may be on the upswing. And this striped black Juicy Couture cardigan is a cutie. Though Cameron looks great in just about anything, Britney wears it similarly: boots, jeans, keeping it simple. Except for the fedora . . . nevertheless, who do you think wore it better?

Twighlight Blues Ombre Cardigan: Love It or Hate It?

Ombre can be pretty, and ombre can be tacky.

Ombre can be pretty, and ombre can be tacky. On this Twighlight Blues Ombre Cardigan ($62), it doesn't quite work like it did in Alberta Ferretti's Fall 2007 collection. It looks unfinished and kind of random on a cardigan. I don't mind the colors though. Do you agree?

Fab Finding Follow Up: TGIF!

It never seems to fail: that end of the week slump that hits sometime on Thursday and doesn't let up until approximately 5:00 Friday afternoon.

It never seems to fail: that end of the week slump that hits sometime on Thursday and doesn't let up until approximately 5:00 Friday afternoon. There are many reasons to thank goodness it's Friday, but the casual Friday dress code is definitely up there; the code is relaxed and if you're lucky, you can even wear your favorite jeans. Just don't veer towards too casual: you're still dressed to impress...your boss that is.

I started you off with this Vince Cashmere Cropped One Button Cardigan, $258, because it's slouchy chic and work-appropriate. To see all the casual Friday Fab Finds, go here.

Look #1, created by whatthew00t is casual cool. I like how the loose-fitting blouse will peek out under the cardigan and provide a nice pop of color.
