Kate Middleton's apparent modesty — she shops at stores like Banana Republic, she does her own grocery shopping, she doesn't have ladies in waiting — is what makes her so widely appealing. That modesty stretches to her wardrobe. As Duchess of Cambridge and wife to Prince William, Kate has increased her time in the public eye, and her polished, classic style is also in the spotlight. She could choose to be a clotheshorse and sport different outfits every outing, but we're seeing a refreshing sense of loyalty to things she loves. Case in point: this purple jacquard coat made an appearance in 2009 for a friend's wedding, she wore it again this weekend to celebrate Prince Phillip's 90th birthday. To boot, she paired it with the blue Zara dress she wore the day after her royal wedding! For a friend's wedding over the weekend, Kate chose a black fascinator to go with her black and white printed dress; it's the same fascinator she wore to the Trooping the Colour ceremony, marking Queen Elizabeth's birthday earlier in the day.

For the biggest moment of her life, Kate Middleton (soon to be known as Princess Catherine) chose British design house Alexander McQueen for her wedding dress. The dress is hand-embroidered lace with a ivory duchesse satin skirt and wide train. She accessorized with a pearl tiara and lace-trimmed veil. Sarah Burton, the designer for Alexander McQueen, was spotted helping Kate into the car and primping her before her walk down the aisle.
