One of the most exciting parts of Couture Fashion Week: Chanel nail polish.

One of the most exciting parts of Couture Fashion Week: Chanel nail polish. And in this particular case, you don't have to wait to buy the gorgeous apricot shade that came down the runway. The models' fingertips were polished with Emprise Nail Colour ($27), a limited-edition hue from the new Spring 2013 collection. Best of all, it's already available online and at Chanel counters. Chanel Haute Couture Spring 2013

Traditionally, we look to flowers in bloom, foliage, and the prettiest kinds of dresses for Spring: Karl Lagerfeld does that, too, but we don't get all the trappings of tradition without Lagerfeld's eye for edgier nuance and modernized femininity.
Chanel Couture Spring 2013

Traditionally, we look to flowers in bloom, foliage, and the prettiest kinds of dresses for Spring: Karl Lagerfeld does that, too, but we don't get all the trappings of tradition without Lagerfeld's eye for edgier nuance and modernized femininity. For Chanel's Spring Couture, Lagerfeld transformed the Grand Palais in the heart of Paris into a private forest. Models stepped out onto a runway that resembled a hidden pathway, dotted with moss and greenery, making Lagerfeld's foray into Spring territory all the more authentic — and all the more lush. Gauzy, plush layers finished with feathered hemlines, floral appliqués, and pleated tiers gave dresses, both short and floor-length, a whimsical touch that Lagerfeld countered with straight off-the shoulder necklines and again in accessories. Never leaning too far toward romance or toward looking too far ahead to something entirely unfamiliar, the collection balances vintage-inspired silhouettes — ladylike elbow-length sleeves and gloves, Chanel's tweedy finishes, and a black, white, and navy palette — with lace and metallic thigh-high open-toe boots. It's very much about the neckline — attention must be paid to the layered off-the-shoulder cuts exposing yet another layer or the halter necklines revealing the collarbone and shoulders. And even when Lagerfeld delivers Spring bridal wear, he can't help but play with tradition — and not just because his two brides may be construed as a nod to same-sex marriage — but with a wedding dress done up in creamy white feathers and finished in layers of dreamy tulle. He marries the strong and soft — and makes us weak in the knees with every floaty hemline and every expertly crafted detail that results. Click through to see the collection in its entirety.

Lindsey Wixson and Aymeline Valade Star in Chanel's Spring 2013 Video

Karl Lagerfeld must have gardens on the brain.

Karl Lagerfeld must have gardens on the brain. After re-creating a full-scale pine forest for his Spring 2013 Couture show on Tuesday, he also released a video of models frolicking in the gardens of Paris's Rodin Museum.

In the three-act story, entitled Public Garden, Lindsey Wixson and a fellow blond beauty alight on a bench in the gardens to examine recent purchases from Chanel's Spring 2013 ready-to-wear collection. After they watch model Aymeline Valade stroll by, Brad Kroening and his 4-year-old son Hudson — who's also Lagerfeld's godson — come and sit on the adjacent bench.

Wixson and her friend encounter Valade and both of the Kroenig men in each of the subsequent acts, finally learning how the three are connected at the end of the film. A look at the story — and the all the clothing — in the video below.

Give Your Topknot Some Edge With Mini Braids

If the typical ballerina topknot is a little too ordinary for your taste, why not do like Clémence Poésy?

If the typical ballerina topknot is a little too ordinary for your taste, why not do like Clémence Poésy? The actress arrived at the Chanel Haute Couture show yesterday sporting a bun that was high on texture. Sweeping her strands up high off her neck, Clémence punched up the typical twist by adding an unexpected element to her hair: mini braids that peeked out along her scalp.

To achieve the look, spritz down your fingertips with hair spray and sweep your hair back off your face. Add a few loose braids along your scalp before finger-brushing your hair into a ponytail and securing it with an elastic. Working in half-inch sections, coil your hair around the base of your ponytail and secure with hairpins until all of the hair in the ponytail is pinned up. Finish with another mist of hair spray and a punchy pink lip, like Estée Lauder Pure Color Lipstick in Magnetic Magenta ($25).

    Critics' Choice Awards: Elle Fanning

We may be in the middle of Winter, but Elle Fanning's Chanel dress has us looking forward to Spring.

We may be in the middle of Winter, but Elle Fanning's Chanel dress has us looking forward to Spring. The actress stepped onto the carpet tonight in a light pink, strapless sheath dress adorned with slightly askew square appliques in greens, pinks, and metallics. Then, to add bold pops of color, personality, and texture, three-dimensional flowers artfully embellished the body of her dress. She kept the focus on the pink and green appliques of her gown by pairing her look with demure jewels, also by Chanel, and platform silver shoes, which picked up on the slight sheen of the square borders of her dress. Her no-fuss hairdo and quiet makeup were all that she needed to finish her red-carpet outfit off right. Are you on board with Elle's look?
