Runway Retrospective: 20 of the Most Striking Beauty Looks From Dior
Backstage at Christian Dior must be a makeup artist and hairstylist's dream. Not only can the beauty looks be described as some of the most spectacular in the fashion world, but also, there are multiple makeup and hair styles within each show. That's an impressive feat, considering these looks typically consist of highly involved eye-makeup techniques and intricately structured coiffures. Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but Christian Dior continually finds more ways to catch the eye.
Christian Dior Fall 2013
Andy Warhol's drawings may have been featured on looks from Raf Simons's Fall 2013 collection for Dior, but its name came from one of the most famous paintings by Salvador Dalí. Simons, who drew on formative moments in his life and in Christian Dior's, named his show "The Persistence of Memory."
Christian Dior Fall 2013 Runway
Raf Simons showed another magnificent collection for Christian Dior's Fall 2013 lineup filled with chic, arty strapless dresses, stunning statement coats, and knitwear that can only be characterized as pure, modern elegance. Described by the fashion house as "a visual scrapbook of significant moments for both Raf Simons and the house of Dior," the collection showcased one refreshing look after another as models walked down the blue-skied, silver-ballooned runway. The highly anticipated show opened up with effortlessly elegant silk strapless dresses featuring hand-drawn artwork — made in collaboration with The Andy Warhol Foundation For the Visual Arts — and chic suit sets featuring wide-leg trousers and peplum blazers. Coats ranged from slim and tailored to cape silhouettes with exaggerated neck ties. Then came the knitwear; black and ivory cable-knit dresses featured whimsical ruffled peplum details, while other renditions, like an open-weave crochet skirt, was layered over a tailored houndstooth dress. Meanwhile, an array of intricate beaded midi-length gowns and metallic dresses provided options for Simons's red carpet crowd.
Jennifer Lawrence Goes From Elegant to All-Out Sexy at the Oscars
Jennifer Lawrence has been on a stylish streak during award season, but her two Oscars looks took her red-carpet style cred to new heights last night. The actress was on cloud nine after her Oscars win for best actress in Silver Linings Playbook wearing a voluminous pale pink Christian Dior Couture gown accessorized with simple Chopard jewels and a white and silver clutch. For the Vanity Fair afterparty, the actress swapped out her elegant gown for a much sexier silver Calvin Klein gown featuring a deep V-neck and formfitting silhouette. One gorgeous award-winning actress, two completely different knockout looks. Which look do you love most?

Oscar Parties: Natalie Portman
Natalie Portman may have skipped the Academy Awards, but that didn't stop her and her husband, Benjamin Millepied, from stopping by Vanity Fair's Oscars afterparty. Natalie looked drop-dead gorgeous in a white strapless gown with a black bow, which she accessorized with a Christian Dior horn-handle clutch and a pair of striking emerald drop earrings. It's been a while since we've seen Natalie on the red carpet, and this look reminds us just how chic and polished she is. What do you think of her afterparty look?

Oscars: Charlize Theron
Charlize Theron turned heads in a stark white Christian Dior Haute Couture gown, which highlighted her stunning statuesque figure. The actress's strapless number featured a deep-V bodice, a structured and embellished peplum shape, and a floor-grazing train. Theron kept her neck bare but added mega-shine with over 100 carats of Harry Winston diamonds on her wrists, ears and fingers. What's the verdict?

Oscars: Jennifer Lawrence
Best actress nominee Jennifer Lawrence took fit-and-flare to epic Oscar proportions in the palest pink Christian Dior Couture gown. Its sleek, strapless silhouette — which debuted on the Haute Couture Spring '13 runway just a few weeks ago — transitioned from a body-conscious top into an ultravoluminous skirt to give the actress a perfectly dramatic look for tonight's awards. Pulled-back hair and simple Chopard jewels kept the focus on her sculptural gown, and she polished it all off with a white-and-silver clutch. Are you feeling it?
