From hitting New York Fashion Week's front rows to making Toronto Film Festival appearances and attending movie premieres, it was a busy week for our favorite style setters. Three of our favorites — Julianne Moore, Olivia Wilde, and Marion Cotillard — delivered high drama in beautiful gowns. Julianne was subtly sexy in a black sheer dress, Olivia popped in bright yellow, and Marion stayed loyal to the House of Dior in a lacy high-low number. Head inside to see them, and the other best-dressed celebrities of a very fashionable week.
The new Dior ad starring Robert Pattinson is here, and it's giving us everything we've been hoping for and more. The black-and-white short film features Robert with model Camille Rowe. The two are getting in all sorts of trouble, sneaking into a fancy party, smoking in a bathtub, making out a lot, and even driving a car on the beach. We've seen plenty of Robert without clothing, and he even won this year's (Mostly) Shirtless Bracket, but he looks just as good in crisp, tailored menswear. The ad definitely proves Robert has everything it takes to be the perfect specimen of a modern man: he's dripping with women, he's rebellious and handsome, and, most importantly, he looks really good in sunglasses.
The Twilight star's new ad comes in close behind the huge announcement of the Fifty Shades of Grey movie casting. Charlie Hunnam was signed to take on the role, meaning fans won't have the opportunity to see Robert play the fan-fiction character originally based on Edward Cullen. It's too bad, too. The Dior ad has us dying to see more of his sultry side.
Now that your casual Summer style is in check, it's time to dress things up — all with the help of our favorite best-dressed celebrities. After all, why do the legwork when we have these amazing red carpet hits to do it for us? With many to choose from, our favorites include Miranda Kerr in a printed bustier dress, Nina Dobrev's little red number, Jordana Brewster's blue minidress, and Sienna Miller's floral dress. But that's only the beginning of the fancy Summer style inspiration you're about to experience. Head inside to soak it all up now.
Charlize Theron is many things — a superb actress, a passionate humanitarian, and a mom, for starters. Well, today we're toasting to her flawless style (both on and off the red carpet). From edgy jumpsuits to alluring gowns, she consistently knows how to walk the line between utterly sexy and ultrasophisticated silhouettes. Calling upon the likes of Dior, Stella McCartney, Reed Krakoff, and Rag & Bone, Charlize effortlessly transitions from dressed up to dressed down; just look to her tailored blazers, cool jeans, and It-girl bags for further off-duty styling inspiration. With Paris Couture Week happening now, we've already spotted Olivia Palermo, Jennifer Lawrence (and her super toned abs), and Emma Roberts enjoying the high-fashion shows in the City of Light. Watch our front-row report to see all of their great getups, and keep checking back here for all of our coverage. On Allison: Fifteen Twenty top, Club Monaco pants.
Dior's Paris Couture Fall 2013 show featured models walking the runway with lips that looked almost wet with glitter. While glittering lips aren't something you'd see on any old girl walking down the street, they've become surprisingly commonplace on the runways of Dior. The pouts, of course, were reminiscent of the crystallized lips and bedazzled brows at some of Dior's past shows, and were offset with barely-there shadow and slicked-back hair. Wearability aside, the threepeat begs the question: just what will Dior bedazzle next?
The look: Tightly slicked hair, bold brows, barely-there shadow, and glitter lips.
Who would wear it: For the brave-of-heart only . . . or a die-hard Dior fangirl.
Color scheme: Rose gold, silver, and gunmetal.
The Resort 2014 collections certainly warrant a closer look, right down to the very last detail. But it's not just the never-ending supply of lightweight fabrics and vacation-ready pieces that make these collections ripe for Summer styling; the shoes, the bags, and the glittering jewels do the bulk of the statement-making.
Ombré colorways provide new meaning to bright palettes, floral-embroidered tapestry bags double as chic beach totes, already-sexy pointy-toe pumps are transformed with even sexier cutouts, and modified takes on the evening clutch aren't limited to graphic motifs and raffia finishes. A year after his July 2012 debut, Raf Simons was treading on much more familiar territory for this season's Dior Couture collection. The asymmetric shapes, dramatic stripes, iridescent fabrics, and feminine silhouettes all made their returns to the catwalk. But familiarity didn't breed contempt, as the designs lit up the runway (as they are destined to do on the red carpet once front-row attendee and face of Dior Jennifer Lawrence gets her hands on these confections).
Adding cool-girl appeal to the collection, layered separates, replete with high-low coats and sheer hems, were the edgiest offerings. Though they would certainly be more in step on the street than the show's tufted evening gowns and tour de force cocktail dresses, they felt as at home at Dior as Raf has found himself to be.
To take in the recent Dior Haute Couture Fall 2013 show, Jennifer Lawrence tried her hand at a big Summer trend — the crop top. The actress, in head-to-toe Dior, paired a rainbow-hued lace shirt with trousers that left us feeling slightly off balance, thanks to some extra volume on the right leg.
The couture shows routinely push fashion boundaries, both on and off the runway, so we understand and appreciate Jennifer's urge to wear something other than the gorgeous red-carpet-worthy dresses we've gotten used to seeing her in. Still, do you think this look is a hit or miss?
We wouldn't blame Maggie Gyllenhaal for taking it easy this weekend. The actress has turned out a red carpet look for nearly every day of the week while promoting White House Down, and they're not your typical cocktail dresses, either. For every stop on tour, Maggie kept us guessing with a different designer confection.
For the premiere in DC, Maggie stepped out in a sleek Alexander McQueen sheath with a gold-embellished, cutout neckline and classic pumps. For an appearance in NYC, she traded sleek black for a colorful Vionnet sheath, and followed that up with a playful peplum, knit Dior dress at the film's New York premiere. For her latest outing at last night's Gotham-hosted fete, Maggie went back to black in the ultimate party dress, a feather-skirted black Dries Van Noten sheath, and coordinating Casadei black pumps. It's not easy keeping up with Maggie, but now that you've got the rundown on her revolving red carpet wardrobe, it's time to weigh in: which of Maggie's glamorous dresses is your favorite?
