There's nothing chicer — and more nonchalant — than throwing on a loose-fitting shirt over a pair of skinny jeans or denim cutoffs. Fab, right? It's a refreshing change from all the skin-tight tanks that get heavy rotation in the summertime. Equipment gives menswear shirts a French-cum-California spin. The Equipment Tomcat Print Chiffon Blouse ($208) is bound to offer a wild night, while the Equipment Silk Satin Olive Shirt ($198) is a sleek nod to Fall's green trend. Get yourself equipped now!
Carine Roitfeld's Longtime Partner Christian Restoin Revives Equipment
>> Christian Restoin, longtime partner of Carine Roitfeld (and father to Julia and Vladimir), launched shirt collection Equipment in 1976, eventually selling the company in 1998. But for Spring 2010, he's back in business — Equipment is being revived by Serge Azria, CEO and creative director of Joie and Current/Elliott, and Restoin has signed on as a creative consultant. “Christian and I have been friends for many years,” Azria told WWD in September. “We always talk about shirts and fashion and, of course, being in fashion, so this was a natural decision for both of us.”
Also involved in the design process, according to Azria, are “a highly respected team of international editors from Paris to Los Angeles,” whose names he declined to say. The new line — which has been picked up by Barneys — will draw from the Equipment heritage look: tailored silk menswear-inspired styles with two flap pockets, 135 style options total. Disneyrollergirl has a few snapshots of the offerings here, and many suspect that the silk shirt Carine sported during Paris Fashion Week in October is from the line.
Carine Roitfeld Pulls an Anna Wintour at Calvin Klein
>> Anna Wintour is legendary for popping her Chanel shades on right as the lights goes dim, but Carine Roitfeld? Not so much — until this afternoon, when she wore a pair of aviators during the Calvin Klein show. Peep her looks throughout this Fashion Week, including her favorite pieces — a giant petal-colored muppet coat and a pair of Sigerson Morrison heels, and then enjoy a surprise appearance of her husband, the elusive Christian Restoin, who was in town for their son's photography exhibit.

>> INSIDER WIRE —Julia Restoin-Roitfeld spent her 28th birthday earlier this week in Barcelona, shooting the Mango spring catalog with her brother Vladimir, but they joined parents Carine Roitfeld and Christian Restoin, Giovanna Battaglia, and Lara Stone last night at Indochine in New York. Sounds like Lara isn't doing the VS Fashion Show, after all . . . [Chic Report, Chic Report]
