Naomi Watts was spotted at the Nice airport in the South of France in mint skinny jeans and a summery fedora. Her accompanying accessories — gray fringe scarf, brown ankle booties, and Ray-Ban aviators — also played into her supercool travel style. We love that with some quick switches, Naomi's outfit can easily go from the airport to the beach. Just switch up the booties for sandals, throw on a bikini underneath, ditch the black bag for something lighter, and use the gray scarf as a sarong instead of a neck accessory. While celebrating Mother's Day at Coldwater Canyon Park in Beverly Hills on Sunday, Jessica Alba looked sweet in her Earnest Sewn Harlan skinny jeans in cotton candy ($210). She continued her love affair with colored denim, only this time there was a twist due to the tie-dye effect. Jessica also got in on Hollywood's obsession with sneakers by sporting a pair of white high-top kicks. Up top she kept more feminine by wearing a loose-fitting cream-colored blouse, topped with a matching scarf, and finished with Lanvin's shiny beige shades. If you're on the hunt for a pair of trendy jeans, add Jessica's Earnest Sewn pair to your mix, then play around to create more fun outfits. For nighttime, pair your cotton candy jeans with all black for a sleek look, or wear them with a bright yellow tank for major spunk.
The colored-jeans trend has spread like wildfire in Hollywood, and Jessica Alba isn't the only one obsessed. Though it's likely that Jessica owns the most colored jeans — purple, highlighter blue, and peach, just to name a few — others like Claudia Schiffer, Kristin Cavallari, Minka Kelly, Stacy Keibler, Jamie Chung, and Pippa Middleton have also gotten in on the craze. Michelle Trachtenberg stepped outside in LA sporting a camel Bec & Bridge military jacket and cobalt Henry & Belle skinny jeans, making a chic color combo we can't wait to try. Celebs everywhere are hopping on the colored-denim trend, but we particularly love how Michelle balanced her bold blue denim with a neutral jacket. The Gossip Girl polished the look with a pair of suede black pumps, oversize sunglasses, and a sky-blue Robinson bag, both by Tory Burch, then wrapped a geo-print Yarnz scarf for extra flair. This chic color combo is perfect any time of year, so see below to shop our camel and cobalt picks.
Jessica Alba was spotted heading into her Santa Monica office in a playful and polished ensemble — purple skinny jeans, an Aztec-print tank, and tie-dye Tory Burch shades — while toting all her work essentials in a leather Tory Burch briefcase. She layered a black blazer over her eye-catching outfit, then completed it with studded flats, a dual-chain Lindsay Vallan necklace, and diamond stud earrings. Style similar purple skinnies with a tribal tank and pointed flats like Jessica, or pair your grape denim with a white tank and tribal sandals; then don't forget standout shades like Jessica's pair to complete your punchy Spring ensemble.
Unless you've been far away from your computer recently, you know that Jessica Alba has a thing for colored denim. From yellow to red to pink to neon green to blush, she's been rocking the trend like no other. Jessica's latest colored denim choice? Highlighter blue. To offset the brightness of her bottoms, the actress finished her casual look with a Fluxus tank, an off-white J Brand denim jacket, a white crossbody bag, gray flats, and aviator shades. A blue leopard-print Theodora & Callum scarf coordinated with her jeans without being too matchy. Feeling Jessica's latest colored denim? Shop her look below.
Bright colors are such a fun way to inject a playful touch to your outfit, and OnSugar blog The Artful Shopper is giving us more reason to try it out with this super cute Alice & Olivia Summer video — check it out!
When I came across this Alice & Olivia video for their Summer 2011 collection I had to share this for my post on summer brights and the colorblocking trend we're seeing that are so hot in fashion right now! What is colorblocking? You've probably heard of the trend that started in early spring that's punctuated by pops of bold color and highlighted by the mixing and matching of separates in all-over hues, in sometimes unexpected ways. Strong prints with geometric shapes in solid hues are big for fall and an all-over wash of striking color is very of-the-moment, for accessories too.
Blue jeans will always hold a special place in our hearts, but right now — and also into Fall — we plan on swapping out our per usual denim for a brighter hue. Colored jeans are popping up everywhere in vibrant splashes of red, cobalt, yellow, green, pink, and even turquoise. Try out a pair with a neutral silk blouse and slick pumps for a fun casual Friday outfit, or dare to colorblock with an equally tantalizing hue on top. Australian denim brand ksubi produced a video featuring gorgeous Australian models including Bambi Northwood-Blyth, Cisco Gorrow, and Heidi Harrington-Johnson leaping '80s muscle cars while clad in highly flattering colored jeans and crop tops. If that isn't an argument to wear bright jeans this Summer, I don't know what is. Check out the cool video, directed by Daniel Askill, here. What do you think of the jeans? Is this a convincing argument to don bright jeans this Summer?
>> Casual Friday allows most worker bees to show off their true blue denim, but we'd like to see someone take it to the next level, like Nicoletta from The Scent of Obsession, in a brighter hue. Take a cue from her look and don vibrant green pants with a crisp white shirt, double-breasted blazer, and platform pumps for a bolder take on casual cool.
