Last night's fourth annual amfAR Inspiration Gala was a prime spot for model and celebrity sightings of the chicest kind. Famous faces (on and off the catwalk) gathered to honor Jennifer Lopez, Alan Cumming, and Valentino Garavani, and treated us to a glamorous lineup of dresses in the process. We spotted Lindsey Wixson and Eniko Mihalik posing in feathered red carpet gowns, Dree Hemingway looking ethereal in white, and, among the model crew, fashion favorites like Shala Monroque in bright candy-apple red and Leigh Lezark hanging with Derek Blasberg. The annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic is a prime spot for the chicest kind of celebrity style sightings.

The annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic is a prime spot for the chicest kind of celebrity style sightings. This year's event drew a crowd of Hollywood favorites and fashion insiders who brought their Summer dresses, sandals, and even a little denim on denim to the event at Liberty State Park over the weekend. Dree Hemingway kept it easy in a chambray jumpsuit, which she finished off with a touch of the '70s: round shades and platforms. Camila Alves took a sexier approach in a sunny body-con dress, complete with nude peep-toe pumps and aviators. Meanwhile, Ashley Olsen showed off her unique sense of style in a bright embroidered caftan and flats, and Rosario Dawson worked a breezy, seasonal LBD with gold jewels and printed platforms. Take in all the looks below, then tell us: who stole the show at this weekend's polo match?

Joan, Dree, and Alexa Are Chanel-Perfect at the Label's TFF Dinner

You can count on two things at Chanel's annual Tribeca Film Festival Artists Dinner: style setters of the A-list variety and lots of Chanel.

You can count on two things at Chanel's annual Tribeca Film Festival Artists Dinner: style setters of the A-list variety and lots of Chanel. Those were the common denominators at last night's festivities, where the dinner party was a real-life runway for Karl Lagerfeld's recent collections. Who better to showcase the designer's wares than guests (and real-life models) Joan Smalls, Alexa Chung, and Dree Hemingway. Joan's supermodel stems were on display in a gray tweed jumpsuit from the label's Pre-Spring '13 collection. Alexa exuded her signature charm in a creamy Chanel minidress from the Spring '13 line and cap-toe Mary Janes, then finished it all off with a bright red lip. Dree opted for a more colorful confection, choosing a pastel minidress from the Resort '13 line, and styled it up with a white button-down underneath and a pair of black and white brogues for a tomboy twist. This fashion-conscious set gave us Chanel three ways — now it's up to you to decide who did it best. Who gets your vote?

Dree Hemingway Is Quite Clearly the Girl With Style at This Premiere

At the Hamptons International Film Festival screening of The Girl, Dree Hemingway's look was a testament to why she's a girl with style we always want to steal.

At the Hamptons International Film Festival screening of The Girl, Dree Hemingway's look was a testament to why she's a girl with style we always want to steal. Outfitted in a mix of menswear staples and a girlier Miu Miu skirt, she perfected the early Fall uniform that's both classic and really, really cool. Here's how it's done:

    • The trick to pulling off this mix is keeping it easy and balancing borrowed-from-the-boys essentials with feminine flair. Start with a crewneck knit and loafers or brogues, then look for a piece that feels just a little flirty on bottom.
    • The skirt is an essential part of pulling the whole thing together and crafting that boy-meets-girl balance. Trousers aren't going to lend the same girlie feel to offset your basics, but a skirt with more personality will. Look for a full miniskirt, like Dree's, with a sweet all-over print, whether it's florals or polka dots.
    • We love that Dree's look provides a great basic outfit formula that you can dress up or down. If you want to take the look to the next level, try a brocade, metallic, or sequined skirt against your knit top, then finish it off with tights for colder nights. You can also add another layer to further the menswear styling play with a fitted blazer, or pop on a leather jacket for an edgier contrast.

Tap Into Free People's Bohemian Paris, With Help From Lou and Dree

We can't help but think Free People's October catalog has serendipitously arrived just in time for Paris Fashion Week.

We can't help but think Free People's October catalog has serendipitously arrived just in time for Paris Fashion Week. And we say this because once you take a closer look at its très chic contents within, you'll understand. Inside awaits a perfectly unkempt Lou Doillon — shot by Garance Doré, no less — hanging in her Parisian neighborhood (Bastille, in case you were wondering), styled up in a mix of classic stripes, high-waisted denim, and boho knits. Then, with just a blank NYC studio backdrop, photographer Chadwick Tyler snapped blond beauty Dree Hemingway in the season's coolest hippie-chic wares, all of which we now want. So, why exactly is this the perfect kind of Fashion Week coincidence? We're pretty sure Lou and Dree embody everything we love about that French brand's effortlessly cool style, the kind of style we're excited to spot outside the shows. Prep for Fall — plus PFW — right here, courtesy of Free People's latest.

Lou Doillon and Dree Hemingway Star in Free People's October Catalog

Free People assembled a trio of fashion's coolest women, including Garance Doré, Lou Doillon, and Dree Hemingway, for its colorful October catalog.
Lou Doillon and Dree Hemingway For Free People October 2012

Free People assembled a trio of fashion's coolest women, including Garance Doré, Lou Doillon, and Dree Hemingway, for its colorful October catalog.

While Hemingway posed for photographer Chadwick Tyler, Doré shot and interviewed Doillon in and around her home. "I like the idea of having a lot of things, and I like having houses that make people want to stay," Doillon says. The same idea extends to the Fall garments from Free People: chunky knitwear, cozy sweaters, lived-in boots, and soft denim are exactly the kinds of clothes necessary for Fall. A look at the catalog here in the gallery.

Dree Hemingway Would School the Back-to-School Dress Code

We may not be heading back to class this Fall, but we're admittedly preoccupied with the wardrobe shift it inspires.

We may not be heading back to class this Fall, but we're admittedly preoccupied with the wardrobe shift it inspires. One look at Dree Hemingway sporting one of our favorite style combos in a sweet Marc Jacobs Resort '13 dress and sneakers set off our latest styling obsession. The model/actress's take on classic kicks and a ladylike day dress (while adorable for her Starlet photocall) would pretty much pass any back-to-school dress code with flying colors. Not only are we obsessed with its charming-cum-cool vibe, but also the fact that it's just the kind of thing that'll, um, weather the seasonal transition to Fall perfectly with maybe a denim jacket tossed over our shoulders and an old-school cruiser to ride down the leaf-lined streets. OK, all collegiate nostalgia aside, this look is just as well-suited for a pulled-together off-duty style or a laid-back office atmosphere. Even if you're not returning to campus, it's worth taking notes from Dree.
