Dsquared2's Wonder Twins Creating a Costume For Beyoncé's Upcoming Tour

Dean and Dan Caten of Dsquared2 are the latest designers to create an onstage look for Beyoncé.

Dean and Dan Caten of Dsquared2 are the latest designers to create an onstage look for Beyoncé.

The singer will wear at least one costume created by the designers during her Mrs. Carter Show tour, which begins on April 15 in Belgrade, Serbia and ends on August 15 in Brooklyn. The look is inspired by some of the more glamorous pieces in the Catens' '90s-fueled Spring 2013 collection, and a representative for the brand told Vogue UK that the outfit is "a unique outfit created exclusively for her."

But Beyoncé isn't the first diva to have a major fashion house design a tour wardrobe. Gucci's Frida Giannini created looks for Florence Welch to wear on tour in 2011, and Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy designed the looks Rihanna is wearing on her Diamonds Tour.

An idea of what Mrs. Carter's costume might look like, here in the gallery.

DSquared2 Fall 2013

Imagine what the patrons of a glamorous '40s-era Parisian jazz club would wear, and you're not far off from the Fall 2013 collection from DSquared2.

Imagine what the patrons of a glamorous '40s-era Parisian jazz club would wear, and you're not far off from the Fall 2013 collection from DSquared2. Designers Dean and Dan Caten sent out a series of looks that ran the gamut from masculine (Cara Delevingne walked the runway in a double-breasted suit with full-cut trousers) to ultrafeminine, like the silk gown trimmed in ostrich feathers that opened the show.

If that doesn't sound luxurious enough, there was plenty more.

Dsquared2 Spring 2013

While many designers referenced the '60s in their Spring 2013 collections, a handful — like Dean and Dan Caten of DSquared2 — took their cues from the '90s. Specifically, the twins referenced the iconic Peter Lindbergh photo shoot for Vogue that put a bevy of supermodels in miniskirts and motorcycle jackets. Naturally, those items made up a healthy bit of the collection: there was lots of leather in the form of shirts, jackets, skirts, and dresses that grazed high on the models' thighs. And for a healthy bit of embellishment, the Catens paired their looks with pearls and gold chains with links the size of silver dollars.

Go Spunky in Hot Pink à la Selena Gomez at the Teen Choice Awards

For her Teen Choice Awards appearance, Selena Gomez opted to go the spunky route in a hot-pink Dquared2 dress and nude Herve Leger heels.

For her Teen Choice Awards appearance, Selena Gomez opted to go the spunky route in a hot-pink Dquared2 dress and nude Herve Leger heels. There is more than one thing we admire about Selena's choice: first the color is super fresh and playful, second the pleated skirt makes things even more interesting, and third we love that she opted to finish off with the minimalist ankle-strap sandal trend. If you have a fun party coming up, mimic Selena's formula by pairing an equally bright pink dress with minimalist sandals for a bold-slash-sleek look. Shop our favorites below to get started!

Dsquared2 Fall 2012

>> Dean and Dan Caten riffed on the idea of high school — albeit a glamorous, '60s-tinged one — for Fall 2012. There were candy-hued pencil skirts, snug little cardigans, and perky ankle pants — and even a few sparkling evening looks just perfect for "prom." It was a fun, imaginative, and — surprisingly — wearable foray. "We love telling a story. You get where we're coming from," the duo explained backstage.

Dsquared2 Fall 2012

Dean and Dan Caten took it back to senior year of high school for their DSquared2 Fall 2012 collection.

Dean and Dan Caten took it back to senior year of high school for their DSquared2 Fall 2012 collection. The '60s-inspired collection came complete with retro teased hair, cigarettes, and even a gym floor catwalk. "We love telling a story," said the designing duo, when describing the elaborate set. "You get where we're coming from." The collection featured wearable pieces for every personality ranging from skinny rolled-up jeans and glazed leather separates for the rebel child to fitted cardigans and printed pencil skirts for the goodie goodie. For the prom queen, Dean and Dan Caten showed a range of black party dresses embellished with feathered peplums and rhinestones. Highlights included an embellished strapless dress worn by Lindsey Wixson, who, by the way, walked down the runway with her dapper date in an equally intriguing white tuxedo jacket. More details on the collection below.

  • Trends: Peplum, cropped pants, pencil skirts.
  • Colors: Purple, black, green, pink, blue.
  • Key Piece: We loved the printed pencil skirts and glazed leather separates.

DSquared2: Spring 2012

If you were ever looking for the definitive guide on music festival garb, DSquared2's Spring 2012 collection is for you. The show — complete with a wet and muddy runway — showed mud-splattered jeans, models carrying beers, festival bracelets, leather pants, and high-heeled wellies. It was designers Dan and Dean Caten's ode to street style and it was done right mixing influences from around the world ranging from Glastonbury to Coachella. The punk-meets-boho vibe was in full force as American flag printed tops got paired with leather skinnies and fringe with baggy button-up shirts. Meanwhile, high-slit asymmetrical dresses added a new spin to festival gear. Ready for your next concert? Read below for more details.

  • Trends: Fringe, peasant skirts, high slits.
  • Colors: Denim, red, purple, yellow, green, black.
  • Key Look: The printed high-slit dresses added a cool spin to festival gear.
  • Accessories: Stacked bangles, high-heel wellies, military hats, headbands.
  • Who Would Wear It: Anyone looking for a cool festival gear or funky casualwear options.
