Celebrity Style: Rachel Bilson

Rachel Bilson continued her Edie Rose For DKNY Jeans promotion tour in NYC over the weekend.

Rachel Bilson continued her Edie Rose For DKNY Jeans promotion tour in NYC over the weekend. While in Florida she went entirely androgynous and in the Big Apple she pulled in a touch of femininity with a colorful silk scarf. I love how she left it untied. Rachel also wore an Edie Rose For DKNY Jeans piped blazer and studded Louboutin boots. The result? Casual cool with a royal finish.

Androgynous Rachel Bilson, in Edie Rose For DKNY: Love It or Hate It?

You've seen Rachel Bilson's Edie Rose for DKNY Jeans collection on the models and now you're seeing it on the designer.

You've seen Rachel Bilson's Edie Rose for DKNY Jeans collection on the models and now you're seeing it on the designer. I have to say, I admire celebrity designers who actually wear their creations. Rachel promoted her new line over the weekend in Florida and decided to go the highly androgynous route in a black cropped blazer, menswear shirt with black tie from her collection, and a bowler hat. She kept the rest of her look casual with skinny jeans and black flats. What do you think? Is this a good look for her or does she look Charlie Chaplin silly?

In anticipation of the official in-store and online launch of Rachel Bilson's Edie Rose for DKNY line, DKNY launched a mini site showcasing the clothes and how you can mix and match them.

In anticipation of the official in-store and online launch of Rachel Bilson's Edie Rose for DKNY line, DKNY launched a mini site showcasing the clothes and how you can mix and match them. As Rachel puts it, "The pieces are really wearable which I think is important because you can mix and match from the line." With a mod palette of black, white, and yellow, the clothes have a prissy downtown vibe. One item I have my eye on is the tuxedo jacket with white piping.More details about when the collection will be in stores and online to come. After the jump you can watch a fun video with Rachel behind the scenes at the ad campaign photo shoot. She talks all about her design mantra, where the name Edie Rose comes from, her adoration for Diane Keaton, and her favorite piece from the collection.

Judgement time is around the corner and Rachel Bilson's pulling out all the stops to make her first venture as a celebrity designer a success. The Edie Rose for DKNY Jeans campaign will feature the star in her own designs.

"Our customer has a real emotional connection with Rachel, and she's always on the best-dressed lists, so it seemed like such a win-win for us. Rachel has real personal style and she is very involved in every step. You can really see that in the collection" said president of DKNY Jeans, Kevin Monogue.

Fab Flash: It's Judgment Time For Delebrities

As the Fall season rolls around, celebrity designers (coined by WWD as delebrities), will be judged.

As the Fall season rolls around, celebrity designers (coined by WWD as delebrities), will be judged. With stores constantly on the hunt for the hottest commodity, it comes as no surprise that Hollywood entertainers like LL Cool J, Avril Lavigne, and Rachel Bilson are eager to get a cut of the action. LL Cool J for Sears, Abbey Dawn for Kohl's by Avril Lavigne, and Rachel Bilson's Edie Rose for DKNY Jeans will soon hit stores. Like many celebrity designers, they have ventured into a risky retail game and only time will tell if they will fail or prevail.

So what do the experts predict? "With all the competition out there, I really can't see girls seeking out clothing from LL Cool J for themselves to wear. Rachel Bilson, on the other hand, is a modern classic. She has great style and girls will want to dress like her. I could see her line lasting a long time" said Lisa Chase of CelebrityEverything.com, a website for the celebrity-obsessed crowd. Chase also predicts a short run for Lavigne's line at Kohl's.

It looks like you all are over the whole celebrity designer trend but I guess we'll just have to ride it out!

Fab Flash: Rachel Bilson, the Budding Fashionphile

It's about time pint-sized cutie Bilson shared some more information about her upcoming clothing line Edie Rose for DKNY Jeans.

It's about time pint-sized cutie Bilson shared some more information about her upcoming clothing line Edie Rose for DKNY Jeans. She revealed it will hit stores right in time for back-to-school season and admitted, "I know nothing about manufacturing, so it has been great to partner with DKNY Jeans. They seriously know what they are doing." Bilson just finished shooting the ad campaign for the line, which will appear in September fashion magazines. OK, now I'm excited.

To further prove she's serious about fashion, Bilson has taken up sewing. "My friend's grandmother helped me make a skirt, and I was so excited about it," she said. "But then it came out something like 10 sizes too big. Oh, well — it was just my first lesson." Keep up the fashion work Bilson!

Fab Flash: Rachel Bilson Does DKNY Jeans

Last week it was Avril Lavigne, and this week it's Rachel Bilson joining the celebrity designer foray.

Last week it was Avril Lavigne, and this week it's Rachel Bilson joining the celebrity designer foray.

Rachel contacted DKNY Jeans to express an interest in working with them, and that's how her junior sportswear line, Edie Rose for DKNY Jeans, came about. The collection will include 15 pieces when it launches in September, including button-down tops, sweaters, jackets, tees, dresses, and dark wash jeans in a black, white, and yellow color palette.

Rachel seems dedicated to her designs: "This line is my main focus right now," she said. "I can't draw at all, so I won't be doing any sketches, but I am learning to sew. I think it's important to know more about the whole process of making clothes."

She named the line for her grandmother Edie, and Rose, a close family friend, because she didn't want to use her own name: "I want people to see these clothes for what they are, not just another line designed by another celebrity," she said. "I want the line to be taken seriously." From these first looks, will you be taking it seriously?
