It's rare to come across a red carpet these days that doesn't play host to (at least) one stunning Elie Saab gown. The Lebanese designer has, in effect, become a go-to source for glamorous premiere dresses and award-show fare, and we have a hunch it has everything to do with his penchant for dense embroidery, princess-gown silhouettes, and decadent embellishing. Saab's Couture Spring '13 collection debuted in Paris today, and with it came 48 ethereal confections practically begging to be worn to some fancy gala. We can easily imagine Keira Knightley slipping into one of the icy-hued, crystalline-embroidered tulle gowns, or perhaps Gwyneth Paltrow taking on one of the crisp white body-skimming gowns as an homage to last year's standout Tom Ford number at the Oscars. We also spotted a funkier printed sheath in a '50s-inspired shape that has Kerry Washington written all over it. Luckily, we're smack dab in the middle of award season, and with the SAG Awards this Sunday, we're hoping to see any one of these 11 gowns sooner rather than later. Spoiler alert: Blair Waldorf is taking another walk down the aisle, and this time, she's doing it in ultra embellished powder blue Elie Saab Couture. While Leighton Meester's Gossip Girl opted for a white princess-worthy Vera Wang gown for her wedding to Prince Louis, she's taking on the burgeoning real-life trend of wearing a nonwhite wedding dress for her onscreen nuptial redux. Off set, stars like Anne Hathaway, clad in custom blush Valentino, and Amber Tamblyn, married in a bold saffron hue, have set the tone for less traditional wedding ensembles. Now, we've got Blair's stunning floor-length floral appliqué gown — complete with a matching waistline accent — to add to the list. With her crystal-encrusted tiara and turquoise earrings as the finishing touches, we're officially enamored of this wedding-day look. Though they were by turns intricately embroidered and heavily beaded, many of the Turkish-inspired garments in Elie Saab's Fall 2012 Couture offering looked light as air when they came down the runway in Paris this week. Saab said he focused on "infusing the collection with imperial splendor," so all 46 looks were of the same high-glamour, sparkly ilk that has made Saab a red-carpet staple. The almost ephemeral quality of many of these dresses and gowns came from their materials: sheer fabrics played host to rich embellishments, like Ottoman Empire motifs and fabric treatments that looked like gold leaf from afar. But Saab brought the collection back down to the ground with dresses in solid fabrics, too, which he decorated with the same expert hand he applied to the other breezy fabrics that floated down the runway.

We can already imagine celebrities waiting in line for a piece of Elie Saab's collection. For Spring, Saab emoted pure femininity, highlighting gorgeous gowns dipped in a rainbow of pretty pastel hues. Dresses ranged from short to long, showing intricate floral and beading details, most of which were cinched in with a dainty little bow belt. Meanwhile, streamlined silhouettes kept the look fresh and modern. Sheerness also came into play, adding subtle, sexy mystique to an otherwise overtly feminine collection. The closer? A pink and white floral printed wedding dress complete with a cathedral-length tulle veil.
