Katie Holmes strikes a few flirtatious and sexy poses on the February cover of Elle. She's been ramping up for a busy 2011, which will include juggling her fashion line, traveling with Tom Cruise and their family, starring in two films, and portraying Jackie O in the History Channel's upcoming miniseries The Kennedys. Inside the magazine she shares what it's like to play the role of an American icon and how she prepared herself emotionally for the role. Of course, an interview with the actress wouldn't be complete without a few anecdotal stories about her fashionable daughter, Suri. Here's more:

  • On working hard to perfect her portrayal of Jacqueline Kennedy: "I worked as hard as I could, because I loved her. On set there was this feeling that we had to create something very special, because these people were very special."
  • On playing such a complex role: "[The Kennedys] were like movie stars. There was such a professionalism to their public image."
  • On designing for her clothing line, Holmes & Yang: "I have such an appreciation for the fine details and the amount of work it takes. I really appreciate clothing and designers so much more. It's made shopping even better."
  • On Suri's shopping style: "The other day we came out of a store, and she said, 'I want to go there,' pointing at another store quite a distance away. In that store was the dress that she wanted. I said, 'Wow, Suri. You're something. You picked that out from a football field away.'"
  • On getting fashion advice from Suri: "She'll really tell me [what she thinks]. Like today I'm wearing brown suede pants, and she said, 'I don't like your pants.' But then she'll say, 'You've got to wear these shoes.' Or 'That's so pretty, Mom. Wear that.' She's got a great eye."

SJP Covers Elle Amid Rumors of a Big City Move!

Sarah Jessica Parker graces the cover of Elle's January issue, which is on newsstands Dec. 15. Tom Munro was the photographer behind the accompanying shoot —  make sure to check out more images from the spread. SJP's gearing up to film I Don't Know How She Does It while relishing her role as president and chief creative officer at Halston. She's also focusing on her three children, and possibly even prepping to make a move uptown after years in the NYC's West Village! She opened up inside the magazine to chat about missing her kids, aging, her new job, and more. SJP said:

  • On aging: “I don’t know what I can do about the aging. Yes, I am aging. Oh my God, I’m aging all the time. It’s like those flowers that wilt in front of you in time-lapse films. But what can I possibly do? Look like a lunatic?”
  • On meeting her newborn twins: “[Meeting them] is hard to describe. Everything is suspended. I can’t even tell you what other sounds were in the room. I loved them immediately, but everything—their size, the shape of their heads, the color of their hair, their noses, their eyes—was new to me. They looked surprisingly different from James Wilkie, which I wasn’t expecting.”
  • On Tabitha's style: “She’s crazy for bows; she wants her head covered in them.”
  • On leaving her children for work: "Even now I think about [the separation], and it makes my stomach hurt. I think about my son waking up on his birthday without me there, and I could die."
  • On taking her role at Halston seriously: “I said, ‘Please know this now: I will never do this for a title. I will never dip in and out of this. I’ll do it like everything else I’ve ever done. I’ll be involved down to the splitting of the atom.’”
  • On her design skills: “I might not have the language; I can’t always tell you the exact blend of a fabric, but I figure it out.”

Kate Hudson and Gwyneth Paltrow are just two of the gorgeous ladies included in Elle's Women in Hollywood November issue, on newsstands Oct. 17. The magazine honors these beautiful blondes along with Diane Kruger, Sofia Coppola, Kerry Washington, and others who have had an impact on the film industry, showcasing them on multiples covers and inside spreads photographed by Carter Smith. Each woman took a look back on some of their most memorable roles in the business and talked about finding good female parts as well as the challenge of balancing work and family life. Here's more:

  • Kate on learning about parenting from her mom and dad: "My mom and dad had it figured out: They never worked at the same time, and they were very conscious of making anywhere we went feel like home. When you're working, the hours are brutal, but when you're not working, you have all the time in the world. That's always a difficult balance."
  • Kate on the difficulty of finding good female roles: "They are — because in most male-driven vehicles, the female parts tend to be dispensable. I have faith that we can make female-driven films that are as interesting to men as they are to women."
  • Kate on filming Almost Famous: "One of my favorite experiences. One, because I love Cameron Crowe. And two, because it was just such a wonderful movie. The whole thing was overwhelming — in the best way."
  • Gwyneth on balancing work and motherhood: "It's really hard. One night in Nashville, my son was screaming with a terrible stomachache. I was like, 'I have to get out of here!' but we had to finish."
  • Gwyneth on filming Iron Man: "I wasn't in many of the action scenes. Since those take, like, two weeks to film, I would be lying by the pool with my kids and having picnics with them in L.A. It was awesome!"

Elle magazine is celebrating its 25th anniversary in October, and while Kate Hudson graced the front of the UK version, four lovely ladies scored the honors stateside. Lauren Conrad, Megan Fox, Gabourey Sidibe, and Amanda Seyfried all get their own covers and are among the 25-somethings featured inside the issue. The women each reflected on what it means to reach the quarter-century milestone, whether they're embracing a carefree 20s or settling down into married life. Megan also put her extremely toned abs on display in her underwear shot while everyone else smiled big in their cute outfits. To see the rest of the covers and lucky ladies, as well as more quotes, check out Elle.com. Here are highlights:

  • Gabourey on turning 25: "Part of me thought it would be weird if people knew I was a grown-up playing a teenager in Precious. So I had a twenty-first-birthday party. We had drinks and went to a strip club called Shotgun Willie's."
  • LC on loving her 20s: "It's your time to be selfish; you still have freedom . . . I was never that girl who just wanted babies. I wanted a career before all of that."
  • Megan on being married: "When I talk about my husband [Brian Austin Green], I feel as if people roll their eyes. It's like when you're 16 and order a martini, and the waiter says, 'Do you think I’m stupid?' They can't grasp that I'm old enough to be married."
  • Amanda on the best and worst parts of 25: "The best thing is, I'm happy. The worst is that I'm scared; the scariest thing is that I know it can't be easy — the years to come."

Do You Play Mind Tricks on Yourself to Stay Healthy?

In the May issue of Elle, Fergie confesses that she tricks herself out of eating the bad stuff.

In the May issue of Elle, Fergie confesses that she tricks herself out of eating the bad stuff.

"I'm not going to lie: There are times I play mind tricks on myself, like that the french fries are poison. With desserts, I'll let myself have just one bite, but I'll look like a freak when I'm eating it, like when I did Duncan Hines commercials as a kid, just savoring every morsel."

My tactics are a little different than Fergie's because I'm worried that calling something "poison" might lead to a bad relationship with food. I have, however, made a point to keep unhealthy foods out of my home — I figure if it's not there, I won't eat it. A trick my friend plays on herself when she gets cravings is to imagine herself fitting into smaller clothes; it's enough to stop her from overindulging!

Taylor Swift Isn't Shy About Taylor Lautner's Hotness

Taylor Swift flashes a coy smile and an edgy look for the April issue of Elle.

Taylor Swift flashes a coy smile and an edgy look for the April issue of Elle. Inside she reveals who she thinks is hot: Taylor Lautner, which suggests the interview took place before their December split. She also talks about her good girl reputation and tendency to turn heartache into lyrics for her Grammy-winning songs. Click for more photos and here are highlights:

  • On who she thinks is hot: “Um, well…Taylor Lautner.”
  • On whether she’s really "fearless": "I overthink everything. I overanalyze everything."
  • On media scrutiny: "I’ve had countless opportunities to do some really bad things. And then people start combing through everything I do trying to find the next mistake and misperception, which leads to more scrutiny. Like, if I go to a bar, even if I’m not drinking, who’s to say that a source isn’t going to say that I was doing something I shouldn’t have been doing? So it’s not only about your own moral compass, but the moral compasses of other people that you don’t know."
  • On yearning to visit Nashville as a child: "I just got it into my head that there was this magical place that I needed to go to because that was where dreams come true."
  • On sourcing material from her romantic relationships: "I like to categorize the various levels of heartbreak. I’ve only had that happen once. A letdown is worth a few songs. A heartbreak is worth a few albums."

Jennifer Lopez flashed some skin front and center on the cover of February's Elle — check out more images from the shoot here. Jennifer kept the Oscar talk out of this interview, but she did exude confidence talking about her upcoming album, swearing a bit and explaining why some of her movies worked so well. Up next is The Back-Up Plan as well as what she calls "Hyper J Lo," because she wants success now more than ever. Here are highlights:

  • On her successful movies: "I think Maid in Manhattan and Monster-in-Law are very layered movies. And that’s why they’re so successful. People don’t like sh*tty romantic comedies. Nothing that’s sh*tty is going to make $100 million."
  • On being a mom and a pop star at 40: "This is what I do—what, because I have kids and a husband now I’m not supposed to be me? I’m a more heightened me if anything. Hyper J Lo. Everything I wanted before, I want twice as much now. And that doesn’t mean material things; it means to explore more, to think more. Being an artist doesn’t start because you’re 21, and it doesn’t end because you’re 51. You are who you are until the day you die."
